Cruxifux, in My favorite hip hop album covers of October

Is the joke that none of them are hip hop albums? I only recognize Judas Brutus and it’s definitely not a hip hop album from October lol

small44,

We are not talking about the same Judas Brutus. All of those are definitely hip hop albums. Funny how you only recognize the name Judas Brutus yet you claim that not a single artist on the list is hip hop

Cruxifux,

Lol bro chill I asked if that was the joke and explained why. I wasn’t trying to say you were lying. Who’s the hip hop artist that did Judas Brutus? I looked up Judas PriestJIM and nothing came up. I’d totally listen to a cover album of Judas Brutus in hip hop.

Cruxifux,

Sweet thanks!

TheBiscuitLout,

Hold up, this is The Architect’s side project. Mint

Me and my daughter went to see Ezra Collective this summer, the band founded by Femi who is also the drummer now for Gorillaz. We were dancing together front stage throughout the performance. And then after the show Femi walked up to my daughter and gave her a fistbump, some kind words and his drum sticks. It brought her to tears - happy ones 😁 What a guy, unlocked a core memory for my daughter.

Ezra Collective won the Mercury Prize this year if you haven’t checked them out yet here is their tiny desk performance: youtu.be/eAzClkn3zYw?si=ypJYYJxZsT4twYwU

Depress_Mode, in Breakfast in America - Supertramp (1979) vs. Enema of the State - Blink 182 (1999)

Just out of curiosity, what was the reason for the juxtaposition between these albums? I don’t see any thematic resemblance, at least not visually. Seems like an odd pair.

p1mrx, (edited )

Both images feature a raised right hand with outstretched fingers, curled left hand, open-mouth smile, eyes looking sideways toward an overhead camera, short sleeves, prominent breasts, name tag, and and white hat.

Alenalda, in Breakfast in America - Supertramp (1979) vs. Enema of the State - Blink 182 (1999)

For both album art and musical content, I love them both.

Wha, it, it has hands, why is it praising a flower, what os going on?

misterwu,

Dont get fooled by that surreal electric flower worshipping owl. If you are into this kind of music, give it a try :) It’s one of my favourite albums of all time. And listening to the album might help you understand the artwork, maybe, I guess 😅

aviationeast, in Anthem of the Peaceful Army - Greta Van Fleet (2018)

I don’t hate them. I get why they are popular, but it doesn’t vibe well with most current rock. Now the country rock artist who “hasn’t sold-out”,pleasee stay in country playlists and stations.

rhacer, in Anthem of the Peaceful Army - Greta Van Fleet (2018)

Seeing them Friday!

superweeniehutjrs, in Polygondwanaland - King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard (2017)

Hell yeah, KGLW. Love to see it. Gumboot Soup is my favorite album of theirs. But this artwork is great. I missed the show unfortunately, but I will see them someday

FireWire400,
@FireWire400@lemmy.world avatar

Gumboot Soup has a pretty cool cover too! The first time, as far as I know, that they used the environmental theme that came to define many of their later albums.

Definitely try to catch them live, I’ve seen them live about five years ago and it was almost magical in a way lol
