Do you have music that you listen to over and over again? #AskingAutistics
There’s this one playlist that’s practically the only thing I listen to. It’s motivating and positive things to ingrain in my mind. Haven’t gotten tired of it and the playlist has been growing for over 2 years now.
Occasionally I’ll let the app mix and play music it thinks I’ll like, but mainly the same like 25 to 30 songs. I feel like this is one of my many autistic traits.
Back in the day, I used to listen to the same stuff over and over again out of necessity. Then internet and its endless music catalog allowed me to keep discovering new stuff all the time for years, to a point I would rarely listen to smth twice.
Now though, I seem to enjoy hearing the same stuff on repeat again. For the last year or so I've been mostly listening to my Shatta playlist (a type of dancehall from Martinique) all day.
@ashleyspencer@actuallyautistic when I was writing my master's thesis, I listened to Bruce Cockburn and Greg Brown all day every day. I went through a phase of listening to Portuguese fado music and medieval chants.
Now, I'm appreciating silence.
@ashleyspencer@actuallyautistic I change music a lot, but every now and then get fixed on something. Seems I've been a top listener of Moop Mama on Spotify in 2020, 2021 and 2022 even though I don't exactly know German 🤷
Music is important to me. It describes what I feel and think better than I can.
