If you can outsmart the traps or fights so you don't have to encounter them directly then you beat them and deserve a reward. The reward might be experience or just not having to spend those resources.

I’d use left one with no problems. It always helps to go through the labyrinths with left hand rule instead of right one

The AC-130 is my favorite plane.

Endybendy,

They’re neat, but I do find them to be quite Spooky.

I’ll see myself out-

You know what I don’t like about them? They’re kind of a symbol of American arrogance and bullying.

It’s only useful where there is zero AAA and zero threat from enemy fighters. It’s a cargo plane - it packs a wallop, of course, but you use it when “the other guy” is a bunch of dudes running around on the ground with no chance to fight back.

The fact that we have them in inventory says a LOT about the types of wars we’ve been fighting for the past 40 years.

(Super unpopular opinion - the A-10 is not much better, but at least it has some genuine anti-armor capabilities.)

Persuader9494,
@Persuader9494@kbin.social avatar

It has more to do with the American war strategy in general: air supremacy is just the plan, and America has a lot of tools to root out AA and destroy enemy air forces. Compare to someone like Russia who is explicitly choosing not to dominate the airspace and relying on artillery for its fire support, and as a result has different focuses.

It doesn't have zero defense against AA- as a commenter upthread pointed out, this picture is literally showing it launching flares against heat-seeking missiles- but it's not something that's designed to work only when fighting non-peer forces, it's essentially capitalizing on the air supremacy that other components of American forces will be creating.

Attaxalotl,

The A-10 was obsolete on arrival; The only thing that’s kept it “effective” is the AGM-65 Maverick, which almost anything can use now.

Apache Helos, F-16s, and tossing Hellfires from drones do the same job a whole lot better.

Maimakterion, to rpgmemes in How I Feel in a Lot of Groups

You might feel that way, but if they’re complaining that you steal the spotlight too much, theyre probably introverts who find it too hard to cut in without you allowing them a chance.

I will literally let my table sit in silence before butting in.

Like, I’ve trained myself to hold back so much I struggle to get a word in edgewise in more proactive groups.

The problem is definitely they’re introverts, but I can’t force them to talk.

Maimakterion, to rpgmemes in Reposting my old stuff from Reddit #3: This isn't a jab, this is a warning.

NGL I keep reading posts and wanting to try pf2e. But then I read the rules and realise the system is garbage.

I love the only meaningful challenges being within a 2 CR range of the party. No really I do. the restricted pool of creatures to build from is just great.

No_Spin_Zone360,

To each their own, but the ability to pool from any creature level is what makes PF2e so great. A high level party can absolutely obliterate a single goblin, but a small army of goblins will still remain a challenge. And dice rolls are significantly diluted so encounter balance is significantly easier for a DM. Takes me 5-10 minutes to choose the enemies and I know that the encounter difficulty will be as expected. In DnD the dice rolls can change an easy fight into a deadly and a deadly into an easy.

Graycliff, to rpgmemes in The DM hands you a piece of paper.

Storytime.

The campaign is Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. After being shunned by her family, my insecure half-orc cleric has fallen into split-ownership of some property, that she and the party finally settled on a plan for and made into a high-class club we called ‘the Rising Tide’. Her crush (a buttoned-down and illegitimate, but very attractive, tiefling scion of some local nobles) showed up for the grand opening, and during their conversation, he assured her that a letter would be pretty welcome.

So the next day, when she spied a story about him in the local yellow rag, she took it as an opportunity. In short, she wrote something like “Hey, we all know the quality of story this idiot prints: I don’t believe it, and I doubt anybody else does, but if you want to keep people from speculating on your romantic status, I’d be happy to hang around with you and discourage any admirers with ill intentions. HINT HINT.”

Fast forward to the END of that day, after she and the rest of the party have spent several hours crawling through literal rivers of sewage, fighting gross monsters, and not getting very far on the actual plot. When we got back home, there was a letter waiting for my cleric–a reply already! Faster than she had ever moved before she ran up to her room, squealing “He wrote me baaaaaaack!” And spent the rest of the night cleaning up, reading, and re-reading her letter.

Yes, it turned out well.

feidry,

I don’t really use them much. It was more of a Rule of Cool purchase. Mine are a bit more detailed (read: harder to read) but the lights are cool. I bought them thinking maybe they’d be good for big spell moments or whatever. I’ve rolled em maybe 5 times. $27 USD on Amazon.

Eh, I’ve seen it cut both ways (as someone who GMs 90% of the time).

Had a player I was friends with, and roommates for a while, who was a huge ‘spotlight hog’. Since some players are quieter and less assertive, I try to make sure each player gets at least one ‘spotlight moment’ each arc. And this player was real bad for always kinda muscling into other player’s ‘moments’.

After having multiple talks, eventually just had to kick him (cause he didn’t stop), which has pretty awkward considering ‘roommate’.

So I’d take players that need to be coaxed into RP over players that have main character syndrome any day (though, of course, ideally all the players just RP readily but politely).

Dubs,
@Dubs@ttrpg.network avatar

The key to being a good spotlight hog is to know you do it and drag the quieter players along with you.
