The original Kind Words is an absolute gem of a game/experience.

Good on KDE and Valve for just doing HDR and bypassing the wayland people who have just sat on the PR for 3 years: invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/4589 ; gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/…/14

This would be amazing on my Valves Steam branded Steam Deck, with high definition OLED screen, whopping 512gb of storage, 30-50% more battery life, and running Valves Steams Steam Decks SteamOS. All for an affordable $549.

BolexForSoup,
@BolexForSoup@kbin.social avatar

I like my deck a lot but I can’t imagine spending $600 all in on one. Probably because I actually don’t use it in handheld mode much anymore so the OLED is not a big deal to me, and swapping out the storage is trivial so you don’t really need to pay for the 512gb and pay that markup.

Thorned_Rose,
@Thorned_Rose@kbin.social avatar

Try living in New Zealand where $600 would be considered a bargain. If we could get a Deck at all.

BolexForSoup,
@BolexForSoup@kbin.social avatar

Ok…but I don’t and that’s a lot for me lol. I also spend thousands more a year on healthcare than the average person because freedomland. I’ll gladly swap cheaper steam decks for your healthcare!

Thorned_Rose,
@Thorned_Rose@kbin.social avatar

Sorry, I was alluding to how expensive everything is here. Even with our free healthcare, the average American still has more disposable income than the average NZer.
And unfortunately decades of underfunding and budget cuts has our 'free' health system on its knees. Many people now pay for health insurance or even fundraiser to go private because waiting lists are so insane. If it continues on the way it is, people are goi g to end up with the American system anyway as people will opt for paid insurance that gives them far more choice and better access than the poor person system will (aka our current system will become like Medicaid and not people will be insured or user paid anyway).

Sorry to be all doom and gloom on a gaming community, just sometimes really sucks to be so isolated and watching society around you go to shit.

Any, I'm gonna go put my energy where I want it to go and do some volunteer work 😊

Looking back, my comment was definitely a little sharper than I intended. Meant to be more playful but I imagine I let some snark slip in there. My apologies. Hope you had/have a good day!

This is what I would play on my Steam Deck OLED. If I had any!

I bet this will look great on my new oled deck.

CopernicusQwark, to pcgaming in Steam Deck OLED hits retail stores on December 12th in Asia

Still not available in Australia. Why does Gaben hate us?

blindsight, to pcgaming in Vampire Survivors - Adventures Update out now, plus Among Us collab DLC coming

$2.49 is a really reasonable price point for DLC. I haven’t played Vampire Survivors since I got to the point I could get 1000+ golden eggs per run, but it sounds like the Adventure update is specifically designed to create novel content for endgame players.

I’m looking forward to the update and it would be silly not to get the DLC at that price. Good timing for me, too, since my wife is getting me a Steam Deck for Christmas.

I love it, but I do wish there were more songs.

It’s therapeutic being able to throw your thoughts into the void and have someone reply to them ❤️

kratoz29, to pcgaming in 100 Steam Deck OLEDs will be given away during The Game Awards 2023

Mexico doesn’t participate, what a surprise, I have family in the US, can I somehow participate and use their directions? 🤣

CopernicusQwark,

Not in Australia either (as usual)…

This was literally the only reason I watched last year. I think I’ll pass this time. The chances of winning are so slim and the event itself is just a long string of advertisements, punctuated by awards.

Last year I muted that shit while I did other shit like play video games. I’ll do the same this year.

totallynotfbi, to gaming in Combined Arms, the big free retro C&C and Red Alert combo 1.0 is out now

This is a stupid question, but is this a port of the actual missions from C&C/Red Alert, or just inspired by them?

guyrocket,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

Not stupid. I want to know too.

Essence_of_Meh,

I think these are new - there's a comment on the project page asking about "playing the classic Red Alert maps" and one of the devs replied they would require some modifications to work.

Besides, original missions can be played with OpenRA so I don't think they would port them here without at least adding support for the new factions (which in turn would require changes in story?).

That's just my guess based on some research though, I'm not a specialist when it comes to these projects.

AnimalSalad, to gaming in Combined Arms, the big free retro C&C and Red Alert combo 1.0 is out now

I apologise for the probably dumb question but can this be played on a samsung tablet? Galaxy tab9 i think

Essence_of_Meh,

Just Windows, Mac and Linux. There's no Android build (that's what would be needed for such tablet).

Mongostein, to gaming in Combined Arms, the big free retro C&C and Red Alert combo 1.0 is out now

This sounds really cool but I’ve never heard of it. Can anyone vouch for the safety of the programs?

Mischala, (edited )

I have used OPENRA before, it’s safe.

It’s also open source, so you can go dredge the code yourself if you are really concerned.

Mongostein,

I wouldn’t even know where to start 😆

Mongostein,

Ok, after backing up my computer just in case I tried it out and it’s dope af

Mischala, (edited )

Now you’re gaming like it’s 1996.

It’s pretty sick at a lan, because being open source, can just copy paste it to friends machines to do massive brawls.
