By this logic, demos from GOG could be posted too, since both are appetizers for something else (in Prime's case, an appetizer for the paid service), and both can be claimed.
It’s not about what the service is trying to do, it’s just about whether or not there’s a full game you can get for free! I don’t like Amazon either but I’m not trying to change the world here, it’s just about games that people might not know they can get at no extra cost.
Fair enough, but wouldn’t that work only once? I’m assuming (perhaps wrongly) that Amazon has some measures in place to prevent people from endlessly starting free trials.
Probably, I’ve not tried as I’m fortunate enough to be able to piggy-back on a “family” account so I get prime without having to give Amazon any money. If you’re alright with jumping through the hoops of creating new email addresses (which is pretty trivial with something like SimpleLogin) then I can’t see any reason you wouldn’t be able to keep grabbing them indefinitely!
There are other Prime Gaming listings in this community, and I already pay for Prime for other stuff so for me it’s an added bonus, as I get to keep it later even if I unsub later on.
Anyway, I wanted to highlight the availability to those who can grab it before it expires.
Doesn't look that great; reading in-between the mostly positive reviews on Steam, it seems a little repetitive on gameplay and the humour level in it apparently is quite cringe/underdeveloped.
I should probably write a bot to auto-respond, but you can create a free trial of prime, grab the games, then delete it if you don’t want to give any money to Amazon. Or just use a Lemmy client which lets you filter out anything with Prime in the title!

Thank you for the filter suggestion, but I get a small dopemine release every time I publicly shit on Amazon. That would interfere with my kink and I’m building up for something huge on December first.

I imagine their gamble with offering free trials is that you’ll be tempted to pay for the service if you like it, but if they actually have to pay the game developers/publishers for each copy they give away (rather than a flat fee, which probably seems more likely) then claiming free games might even cost them.

Not sure how it works with Prime Gaming, but with Kindle Prime and Kindle Unlimited, authors get paid based on the number of pages of the book that the customer reads. So the more people download and read the free books in those programs, the more authors get paid. I’ve heard that a lot of authors really appreciate this system because being in the program gets their book in front of more eyes than if it was just another ebook in the middle of millions of others, so they do come out of it better off. And often financially better off than if they’d published through a traditional publisher, too.
While I doubt Prime Gaming are paying devs based on hours played (the closest metric to pages read for books), since about half of the games I’ve claimed have been on other platforms, it’s definitely possible and even likely that they’re paying based on copies given away, rather than a flat fee.
I didn’t pay for Amazon Prime for the gaming. The free games are just a nice perk on top of a service I was already paying for for other reasons. De-Amazoning is surprisingly difficult when there are simply no local suppliers for many products. So my alternate tactic is costing Amazon as much money as possible, and also fucking up their data as much as possible. I claim every free game, even if I’m not interested in it, because it’ll make the data they hold on me look weird and the devs get paid for each one.
I’m seeing “This offer is currently experiencing issues and is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later.” and the date that @loppwn is seeing too, though I successfully grabbed the game earlier. Maybe too many people claimed it and broke something on their end?
Hell yeah! Now, I’m all thumbs, but I’m sure with a little trick of the fingers I’ll be able to try my hand at this game, which I’ve been meaning to palm for some time.
