UTJD16, to boardgames in Kiri-ai: The Duel - Two players, five minutes, 16 cards, one of the most compelling card games I’ve ever played

Mine just came in yesterday . . . what a fun, simple, but intense game!! My partner and I loved it. Bought a few more to gift.

I ordered it because of your post (after reading the linked review), so thank you!!

That’s great! Mine hasn’t come in yet though :(

I thought about grabbing a couple for friends too but figured I would wait to play it first. So glad you’re having fun!

Edit: I just checked my order status and it’s “in warehouse” so hopefully I’ll get it soon

I've read a lot of articles like this one. Moving to Mastodon seems like the obvious choice.

Wish they'd play something else.

glimse, to dnd in [Dicebreaker] Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy 16 and The Witcher actors party up for D&D actual play series Natural Six

I assumed it would be Neil Newborn but BG3 actor they’re referencing is Alex Jordan who played…no one lol

He did some pickup audio for a sex scene, kind of a stretch to namedrop bg3 in the announcement

a sex scene, kind of a stretch

Gotta stay limber, though? 🤷🏼‍♂️

vithigar,

He’s also Mr. Hands in Cyberpunk 2077, which is hugely relevant currently and a much bigger role than “breathy sex guy”. The people who wrote that headline are insane.

glimse,

Right?? I’m sure it was to drum up clicks because the bg3 cast is so well-loved

It annoys me so much when these articles don’t include a link to the website they are discussing.

We picked this up at Essen Spiel and had a blast with it. It’s also purposefully easy to carry on the go which I thought was novel!

Ah yes, of course! I would love to play it with you! Thanks!

The games looks really fun. I am currently playing Ghost of Tsushima so a Samurai duel feels very enticing. Going to watch some gameplay videos before ordering though.

Lol, might have to load this in table top simulator to play it. Gameplay videos seem to be a little sparse at the moment. There is an overview video on the lucky duck games YouTube about it, but it’s not real gameplay.

Other than that there are some other impression videos from the Reno Expo, but again, no real gameplay. I just impulse bought (preordered) it. For $15 it seems like if the gameplay can stay fresh this will be pretty popular. And I think it will be, because it seems like most of the gameplay is in your mind and how you read your opponent. Reminds me a bit of Nidhogg for PS4.

I really like these sort of games that try to be as minimal as possible, while still being whole games.

slyflourish, to rpg in Tabletop creators struggle to plot their future amidst Twitter’s still-burning ashes

As a guy who used Twitter extensively for more than a decade and had over 40k followers, I can tell you it went from a great place to promote one’s RPG work to a terrible place just about overnight back in 2020 or so – just about the time users focused on algorithmic sorting of tweets over the timeline.

I was lucky to get 400 people to click a link and maybe one would buy something. Engagement was shot.

Luckily I found the social media platform of the future – email! It’s a network I control, can move to the service of my choice, and lets me directly connect with those who expressed interest in what I make.

I’m glad I started building up my email list a few years ago. It takes time but it’s worth it.

I feel like a lot of creators on Twitter simply can’t let go even though the network isn’t the same as all anymore.

They moved from Google+ to Twitter, if only there were some kind of alternative they could use now, perhaps one where some evil billionaire couldn’t buy it and enshittify everything.

dino,

Is this satire? They would’ve to use mastodon.

Yes.

This years picks, I found rather inane. Both spiel and Kenner spiel are very light and kinda bearly quality as games.

I like the new dynamic rules.

I’m a little sad this version goes away from the original, more brutal, art style. This one is too conventional.

Campaign runs smoothly, but there are not that much Kickstarter Exclusives.
