IggythePyro, to rpg in Daggerheart is apparently a 2d12 system

Huge fan of having a bell curve for most rolls, my main concern is that in combat the random initiative might make it kind of swingy; the initiative system is that if the hope die is higher the players go next, if the fear die is higher the enemies do, for about a 46% chance of enemies going next each turn. So that’s about a 15% chance of players getting three turns in a row- if the game is balanced for quick combats (which seems likely given what we know) that could make a massive difference in how hard a combat is- and in the counter situation, where enemies get three turns in a row (about a 9% chance) an otherwise easy encounter could go very wrong. This is all speculation, of course, but the initiative system being fully random does worry me, since the action economy seems like it would be a major thing in this system

This looks really interesting. A nice balance of simple mechanics that drive interesting stories.

I love d12s. I see this as an absolute win

nieceandtows, to avatar in New Avatar: The Last Airbender Game Announced

The trailer looks great, and an environmental puzzle game with action elements seems perfect for an ATLA game. My 7yo is a big ATLA fan, and we play games together regularly (mostly zelda games), so will definitely check this out.

What do we think? I’m not much of a gamer these days, but may check out a mobile game.

I’m the other way actually. I can’t see mobile games as anything other than low effort cash grabs made for short attention spans. Please prove me wrong with your favorite mobile games.

ahimsabjorn,

Lol! I can’t prove that as I agree with you. My spare time is just limited, so mobile or retro gaming is what I do on rare occasions.

Most mobile games have issues but there are a few diamonds in the rough. Check out Part Time UFO. Same devs who make the Kirby games.

Little Inferno, almost any PC game which was exported to phone, open source games; some paid and even games (which I don’t remember because it has been long since I checked any Play Store game)

It also isn’t a platform exclusive thing, people even complain about micro transactions overwhelming in consoles & PC, once even ads were a damn concern on these platforms.

It’s just that those make more money so more money to make them visible. Also, many phones are weak, so games can run on almost anything. But those games aren’t a rule, but a widespread model.

By the way, by what you said, it seems you would like the GBA A:tlA game, which was the first think I thought when I saw “game” and “Avatar” in the title.

nieceandtows,

I’m currently playing the 3ds version with my daughter. I’ll try the gba version, thanks!

Honestly, at tier 4 the resident party wizard has enough reality-shaping abilities that I find it quite difficult to follow a pre-written adventure without them nuking the entire content and forcing me to improvise.

And considering how badly written most of 5e’s campaigns are, I don’t think this will solve the issue at all.

Aubreysux,

I’d honestly like to see WOTC acknowledge that levels 10+ or maybe 15+ are not actually playable and refocus their design efforts on lower levels.

Aielman15,
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

I’d rather them rebalance their game.

That’s what I hoped for OneDnD, but after the last playtest, I think it’s safe to assume it won’t change anything because it would take too much time and effort.

RobertOwnageJunior,

I’m just looking forward to what Daggerheart has to offer at this point.

I see, thank you for the link.

It seems to me it’s a pvp focused game, which is not really my thing. Having fun as a party is the main reason I play DnD to begin with. Too much stress already, I like sitting and playing a chill adventure with my friends instead of competing against them.

RobertOwnageJunior,

It’s not. It’s a RPG system, just like Pathfinder or DnD.

@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry, i read the link while half asleep. The article itself is only a few lines long, and then it diverts to “Other Darrington Press games” and I didn’t notice it while reading.

I’ll check it out when it releases, although the problem with other systems is always the same - my group already knows dnd and doesn’t want to learn a new game. I bought some pathfinder books a few months ago and I’ve never had the chance to use them.

I love epic level campaigns. I love dealing with all the super powerful game breaking magics and abilities. I usually set them in the astral plane, the hells, or more recently, space. I started reading about it’s version of space a few months ago and I love everything about it. Space in D&D is fucking gnarly. Like, even the gods of Toril and other planes are afraid of space.

Treczoks, to moviesandtv in The Marvels Won't Screen in IMAX Unless Dune 2 Is Delayed

Well, then lets hope they delay whatever Marvel thingy they are planning. Watching Dune on the big screen is a must.

AndreyAsimow, to moviesandtv in The Marvels Won't Screen in IMAX Unless Dune 2 Is Delayed
@AndreyAsimow@lemmy.world avatar

In this case, I would watch dune 2 in the cinema and pirate marvels in cam quality. Marvel really lost its touch after Infinity War.

WarmSoda,

I had a wait and see mindset after Infinity War. And now that I’ve seen most of the recent ones I agree. Scarlett Witch and Spiderman were good. I actually liked Ant Man. But I don’t think I’ve finished any of the others. Oh wait I did finish Eternals, just to see if I guessed the ending. Edit: I also watched Guardians 3. Good enough movie, strange picks for the soundtrack this time though.

I can’t imagine watching any of them on IMAX. The rushed CGI can’t look great that big.

xyzzy,

I don’t really understand this. Why pirate a movie when you’re not even interested in it? If that’s how you feel, there’s plenty of movies or shows out there that would probably be a better use of your time.

HeavyRaptor,

Exactly. And why pirate it in cam quality? If you don’t care but want to watch just in case its good, at least wait for a proper version quality wise.

AndreyAsimow,
@AndreyAsimow@lemmy.world avatar

I understand your point.

However, I don’t like to tell wrong about a movie before watching it. I give a chance to most horrible shows and movies.

So these 29 movies have been terrible. But what about the 30th?

spacedancer, to moviesandtv in The Marvels Won't Screen in IMAX Unless Dune 2 Is Delayed

Oh no…anyway. I absolutely do not want to wait any longer for Dune 2, but if it’s because of the strike, I understand.

Auli,

The only reason it would be because of the strike is they want something to release in 2024.

ABCDE,

I hadn’t even heard of the Marvels; surely we’ve got fatigue by now?

A level 1-10 adventure with a ‘bump to lvl 17’? What does that mean? Instantly levelling from 10 to 17, skipping an entire tier? That just sounds silly.
