Lemmy is open-source software. If the project root starts doing something stupid or gets abandoned, it can just be forked by someone else and it will live on.
I’m here for it as well but sticking with FOSS. However, I’ll say use whatever app you want. The wonderful thing about the Fediverse is that they actually give you the option to do that!
Simple: Don’t like it? Don’t search it and don’t look at it. I’m not going to tell someone to stop drawing something just because I personally find it uncomfortable. Heck, I’d feel shame if I ever was in such situation. I can just block the person drawing the art and I never have to see any of their art again (outside of re-sharing).
Enjoy your artistic freedom, keep the fandom unmarketable, and if something makes you uncomfortable, filter it out. It’s not on others to cater to your needs all the time. Sometimes you need to be the one to take initiative.
From what I have seen/heard from people still on there, there’s a new setting that only allows you to receive DMs from “verified users” (i.e. Twitter Blue subscribers). You are automatically opted into this and have to opt out to receive DMs from others.
