I looked at their apps on the iOS AppStore. Some apps (including Raivo) don’t harvest any data. Some do to a minor extent - more than I prefer. Most haven’t been updated since Apple started requiring that info be posted - so who knows. Overall I’m getting the feeling this is bad for Raivo and its users, but I’m just naturally skeptical.
Currently Raivo’s app on the the iOS AppStore is reporting No Data tracked. I’ll stick with Raivo for now and hope for their success. As soon as I see any data being tracked, even just app analytics - I’m out.
Okay, I’m done responding to your bullshit. You’re clearly stupid, deceitful or both. Did you even read the article you posted? Google pays Firefox to be the default search engine - everyone knows this. If you keep the default as Google, no shit will it send data to Google, you’re literally using Google’s search engine - where else would it send the data? Where does this prove that the FIREFOX BROWSER or its Sync function sends data to Alphabet?
Prove your claim or move on. No shit if you have Google as the search engine it will pass data to Google. Mozilla passes data to Google if you use their Sync function? Prove it. Your useless Blacklight scan of Mozilla.org is not proof. You’re just saying nonsense.
The people they interviewed for this article truly sound bonkers
That being said - I share my Find My location with my SO, my parents, and a couple close friends I don’t live near anymore.
For those saying this causes fights in relationships, no it doesn’t - the relationship has issues despite this, not because of this. My SO and I fight sometimes, not once because of a ‘suspicious’ location. Because neither of us are cheating shitbags and we know this.
I travel a lot and I know it gives my Mom peace of mind if she can quickly glance and know I’m safe. Close friends are convenient, especially when you don’t live very close anymore. A few times I have seen us closer than normal and plan something to meet up.
We can hope but I think that’s idealistic. Just look at u/sabbah and his Reddit account under the same name to know he’s trying to powermod. Sad that someone can feel so empty IRL they grasp at the chance to dictate discourse online.
I have nothing meaningful to add to help prevent this from happening but I just gotta say… I physically cannot even imagine the level of goober you must be to squat a bunch of communities. Is it a desperation of power? The hope to monetize? You’re a fool if you think that’ll work out for you in the fediverse.
