rowdyrockets,

I’ve never seen someone invalidate every word they ever said with such a simple post but here it is

rowdyrockets,

Currently Raivo’s app on the the iOS AppStore is reporting No Data tracked. I’ll stick with Raivo for now and hope for their success. As soon as I see any data being tracked, even just app analytics - I’m out.

rowdyrockets, (edited )

I looked at their apps on the iOS AppStore. Some apps (including Raivo) don’t harvest any data. Some do to a minor extent - more than I prefer. Most haven’t been updated since Apple started requiring that info be posted - so who knows. Overall I’m getting the feeling this is bad for Raivo and its users, but I’m just naturally skeptical.

rowdyrockets,

The people they interviewed for this article truly sound bonkers

That being said - I share my Find My location with my SO, my parents, and a couple close friends I don’t live near anymore.

For those saying this causes fights in relationships, no it doesn’t - the relationship has issues despite this, not because of this. My SO and I fight sometimes, not once because of a ‘suspicious’ location. Because neither of us are cheating shitbags and we know this.

I travel a lot and I know it gives my Mom peace of mind if she can quickly glance and know I’m safe. Close friends are convenient, especially when you don’t live very close anymore. A few times I have seen us closer than normal and plan something to meet up.

rowdyrockets,

I have nothing meaningful to add to help prevent this from happening but I just gotta say… I physically cannot even imagine the level of goober you must be to squat a bunch of communities. Is it a desperation of power? The hope to monetize? You’re a fool if you think that’ll work out for you in the fediverse.

rowdyrockets,

We can hope but I think that’s idealistic. Just look at u/sabbah and his Reddit account under the same name to know he’s trying to powermod. Sad that someone can feel so empty IRL they grasp at the chance to dictate discourse online.

rowdyrockets,

lol put the katana away samurai, nobody cares

lemmy.world has bent the knee to corporations. Consolidated comments into body.

I don’t think this is EEE, I think this is a chance for meta to dominate the narrative by drowning us out with algorithmically curated censorship, distractions, hatred, outrage etc. I would join threads if I want threads, I would be on Reddit if I want corporate influence....

rowdyrockets,

Ah bummer - time to switch to another instance.

Wait and see approach while dealing with Meta is asking for disaster. I joined Lemmy to be as far away from big tech as possible, not holding hands.

rowdyrockets,

Yeah I’m not “happy to help” but it is genuinely “no problem.” I’m just being honest.

To be clear - I’m not a fuck when people ask for help. I help to best of my ability - but I have enough work as is without assisting others.

rowdyrockets, (edited )

Calling people little dictators because they want to cut out the vitriol that is the Facebook/Instagram community is ridiculous. I’m in the opinion of quality over quantity - having been on Facebook, there is nothing of value being posted.

I am not demanding to defederate, I am asking. I think the decision is ultimately the admin’s but I hope they’ll listen to the majority’s vote, regardless of what that is.

If Lemmy.world chooses not to defederate from Meta, I won’t be upset - I’ll simply move to an instance that does. Truly the power of the fediverse is the ability to choose.

rowdyrockets,

That’s just one post that barely got any traction, asking for defederation from all instances federated to Meta…. Even the link to the petition they posted is just for blocking Meta, not everyone else. The Mastodon link they posted just tells you how to block Meta.

You don’t think you’re being dramatic? The want to block Meta is completely valid. To be clear, I do support blocking Meta. I do not support blocking instances federated to Meta - though I will try to limit interaction with those instance.

rowdyrockets,

Damn this is just sad dude lol Yeah I’m not interested in testing - you’re sus.

rowdyrockets,

Could you post the actual source instead of just quoting it? That’s useless.

Also seems the Blacklight analysis is of the Mozilla website? “Blacklight detected this website…”

To which I ask “who cares?” This is not an indication of if their browser is sending telemetry to Alphabet, which it is certainly not.

Also based on your post history- you come off as a shill, which immediately makes me doubtful of your claims and this Vivaldi browser.

rowdyrockets,

I just realized this post is 2yo lol Lemmy strikes again

rowdyrockets,

Dude. This is a blacklight scan of the Mozilla website. It means nothing about their browser.

Not sure if you’re just dense or purposefully deceitful. Given you’re a shill for another chromium skin, I’m leaning towards deceitful.

rowdyrockets,

Prove your claim or move on. No shit if you have Google as the search engine it will pass data to Google. Mozilla passes data to Google if you use their Sync function? Prove it. Your useless Blacklight scan of Mozilla.org is not proof. You’re just saying nonsense.

rowdyrockets,

Okay, I’m done responding to your bullshit. You’re clearly stupid, deceitful or both. Did you even read the article you posted? Google pays Firefox to be the default search engine - everyone knows this. If you keep the default as Google, no shit will it send data to Google, you’re literally using Google’s search engine - where else would it send the data? Where does this prove that the FIREFOX BROWSER or its Sync function sends data to Alphabet?
