So today Unity announced changes in how they are going to monetize their game engine, and it is, rightfully might I add, poorly recievedHere is how much youtuber Dani would have to pay unity if they consider his games to gain over $200k in revenue Dani’s hypothetical unity payments...
Probably difficult difficult limes difficult. Like rebuilding a wood frame house into a concrete block house.
You can reuse parts (doors, windows, etc) but not everything comes apart easily, and it’s still a lot of work reassembling things. Even the parts you should be able to reuse, you may end up replacing since they don’t “disassemble” easily.
This morning I read the article about Denuvo on Switch. What do fellow pirates think of this? Could it pave the way for that crap on other consoles as well? Is it time to become a datahearer? (⌐■_■)
Denuvo phones home constantly. Unless denuvo is removed from the game, the game won’t be playable unless it was legitimately purchased and can be verified on denuvo’s servers.
Furthermore denuvo encrypts the game files and the denuvo files and scrambles them all together, like mixing two jars of sand from different beaches, but the denuvo sand pieces know where everything is, so the game and copy protections still work.
All characters have that. Hit tab to open team view, and on the upper right of each characters window there’s a little checkbox to toggle it on and off. Camp armor and regular armor.
Pic is from Alita: Battle Angel. I thought it was a well-chosen moment, in a strange, otherworldly film to suddenly drop this, and left me feeling hyped up for the good guys.
Ive spent months working on the VFX for a show only to not appear in the credits, yet the dude who brought lunches to the crew on set who gets paid significantly less than me gets a credit.
I get that if 100,000 people work on a film they don’t want to fit all of them in the credits. But also, why not? Sure there would need to be some sort of threshold, you can’t just Uber someone to work and get a movie credit. But someone who actually did work should get credited. If the credits last 10 more minutes, who cares? Physical discs have plenty of space now, granted, streaming is now king. But that only proves my point more.
The only argument I can think of is that movie theaters need time for one movie to end before the next one starts because of post-credits or something. But that’s so niche and can easily be worked around with mid-credits scenes, or faster scrolling credits on the theater version.

My wife and I like to play games together, but PC devs often skip couch co-op options. For example, I bought Halo Master Chief Collection because I know Halo co-op is legendary and I never really played Halo growing up, nor did she. But the PC version specifically doesn’t have split screen co-op where the console version does....
