Do my comrades find themselves becoming dehydrated often?

If so, you’re not alone.

@actuallyautistic

peteorrall,

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic Yes! Although this never used to be the case. Until significant lifestyle changes brought on by parenting a medically complex child and COVID, I was quite regimented in hydration. Easily drinking 1 to 1.5 gallons a day. Now? It may be a couple quarts.

NT Friends & colleagues have often told me that my autistic super-hearing must be “awesome” and “useful”

No.

Hearing gnats mate & every sound within 50 meters of me simultaneously is incredibly painful, debilitating, and annoying AF.

And no, “just put in Loops” isn’t useful.

Glad someone mentioned this! There are definitely pros and cons to the autistic super hearing.

In my case, every possible detail within an open office environment can be quite distracting and even stressful.

On the flip side, the super hearing is amazing for sound design and recording music. Also, when I was an EMT, I could grab accurate vital signs from a patient with the cheap $7 stethoscope in the back of a moving ambulance. Every time.

For perspective, these stethoscopes are such poor quality the engine and road noise were more audible than the muffled vital signs.

Do my comrades have a healthy gut?

If not, you’re not alone.

I do now but it definitely wasn't healthy for the longest time. Numerous food allergies and sensitivities definitely played a role.

Private
peteorrall,

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic I don't drink at all. Family history of alcoholism and addiction. Never drank and don't know what it tastes like.

I still have difficulty navigating social situations but it has become a bit easier.
