Most of the communities I'm interested in are on lemmy.world, programming.dev, etc where they have a large activity there, but the UI/UX of kbin is what's holding me here....
Currently, kbin has no delays in the queues. This may be due to not all streams being sent to us or an error in the federation. Over the next few weeks, this process will be improved.
The federation between the Mastodon instances I am using for testing is either immediate or takes a maximum of a few seconds. However, other instances may experience their own delays.
Apparently one of the lemmy.ml admins was overzealous in banning all User-Agent strings that contained the word "bot". Bans were entered for all of the individual strings containing that word which were observed in their webserver logs, which impacted kbin's reported agent of "kbinBot"....
Just replace tankie in your head with Nazi and read your sentence again. Would they ever play nice? And before you ask, tankies are pretty much exactly that, Nazis with different colour of clothing.
why would a Nazi want their ideology to reach as wide of an audience as possible?
Thats what Nazis usually do. There is a reason they have parades and own news papers and put stickers everywhere. But Tankies are not Nazis, they are their own breed. The same coin, but the other side.
I can see no good reason why not working with Kbin would be a good thing for them.
People like Nazis and Tankies like Power, thats why they like people as Hitler or Stalin, or Mao, or Xi. They like the concept of authority and absolute power.
Honestly, I’ve been really enjoying making these, probably the most I’ve been excited to model something for months. So I exchanged some sleep for a faster turnaround :) Previous post here...
We (meaning the whole fediverse, all instances) need to be de-federating that crap immediately.
Nothing good will come from having Facebook streaming into here in anyway whatsoever.
The Fediverse as a whole needs to be a separate place so that people can leave places like that.
Also, if Facebook is allowed to "work with" the development of the fediverse at all, they absolutely will eventually destroy it for profit. And "working with" it absolutely includes them federating with it.
When their vast resources are taken into account, and their existing userbase also, they would rapidly become the main instance (or collection of, but probably just one) of the whole fediverse. Once that's them, they can use that position to dictate terms pretty hard.
Before you know it, everyone that would eventually have come here are there instead, and they're now the fediverse. They can also fork the software and leverage their Dev teams to make their fediverse vastly more polished... No donations needed on their fediverse, less bugs, everyone you know is already over there... Seem familiar?
How does that effect us who aren't there, how isn't it just the same thing as now? Our fediverse dies off because the users leave, instances close down through lack of population/need, before you know it there's nobody here and the idea just dies.
I feel like I'm missing out on the hype using kbin.social (kbin.social)

Is there a way to derank certain magazines on user side? Something between full blocking and full allowing a magazine? (kbin.social)
Some instances and groups are very chatty (*gestures to /lemmyshitposts), so much so that they dominate the All page....
lemmy.ml is no longer shadowbanning kbin. (lemmy.ml)

Could we get official word on what Kbin's stance is towards federating with Meta? (kbin.social)
I would like to know if I can feel safe here, or if I should pack it up and start looking elsewhere sooner rather than later....
