fjordbasa,

This post made me crumble into dust

fjordbasa,

“indulge” is a great word here, I think that’s a word I had trouble finding to describe this- it’s very indulgent. For me, there’s something about the simplicity of the time traveling mechanic that hits the right notes. :::spoiler Slight spoilers? Time traveling is just “inverting” in time, and there are no flashy special effects for the actual inversion, just walking through the “turnstile”. When the protagonist steps out into the world after being inverted, the sense of familiarity combined with the eerie sense of something being off (everything moving backwards, haha) just struck a nerve for me, it felt so visceral :::

fjordbasa,

I did the same and enjoy it. I think it’s embarrassing that a AAA can spend so long on a game and have it basically be fallout in space with very little in the way of innovation. But I also didn’t expect anything more, and it scratches the itch I was wanting it to scratch

fjordbasa,

A break isn’t a terrible idea in my opinion. Give yourself a chance to step away and I bet by the end of your break you’ll end up getting excited to return something in particular

fjordbasa,

It may be prescribed long term if the benefits outweigh the possible risks. If someone is taking it in their own, it’s probably better to talk to their doc about it. My understanding is that it’s safe but can have long term effects and needs to be stepped down if you stop after taking it a while

fjordbasa,

Either can prescribe it. Depends on the person’s situation- other symptoms, severity, etc.

Pretty sure it’s APUR

Illicit- forbidden, illegal, taboo

Elicit- evoke a response, obtain

fjordbasa,

I think when people say to but high quality items, they mean to spend what they’re worth. Getting the most expensive thing doesn’t really guarantee a quality item, but cheaping out makes it much more likely that you’ll end up with something lackluster. Plus, something like sleep can be fairly complicated and is connected to your habits, what you’ve eaten, or schedule, etc., so expecting a single change (pillow) to make a huge difference may not be realistic.

fjordbasa,

I concur with that general rule!

fjordbasa,

Well that was uncal- …oh

What's the most efficient way for peeling potatoes by hand? (sh.itjust.works)

Like, I get comments from people telling me it’s weird I always try to peel potatoes like I am trying to make the worlds longest 1-piece potato peel. To me it feels way for efficient and fun to continu down a potato in 1 peel, while circling around it, instead of randomly scraping a hundred different pieces of peel off and...

fjordbasa,

Oxo makes some good stuff. I offer see their products on America’s Test Kitchen at the very least in the running and as winners a decent amount of the time
