andrewrgross,

This would be a lot more exciting if he didn’t also just announce that we’re sending cluster munitions to Ukraine.

andrewrgross,

No, although your coworker sounds like a cool guy

andrewrgross,

I love downfall memes. This one is only average, but that’s still great.

andrewrgross,

I think the solution is for each instance to decide whether to federate with Threads or not.

The only way an attempt to coopt the Fediverse wouldn’t happen world be if the project failed. If this system is going to work, major players will want to participate, and they’ll want to accrue power and dominate over the system. Creating tools to establish boundaries and checks is fundamentally the point, so I think we should all strive to understand and contribute to the development and administration of institutions we like. And if we do that, and also compel our governments to impose regulations on big tech they WILL come up against limits to their power.

andrewrgross,

You’d have to be crazy to go to that Pizzahut, because I had a pizza from some local shop that day I went to the pyramids and it’s literally the most memorable part of that day.

It was, like, an Egyptian pizza. The dough was all flakey? It’s hard to explain, but Egyptian pizza >>> Chicago pizza.

andrewrgross,

That’s why I put three greater thans.

It’s not just better, it’s WAY, WAY better.

andrewrgross,

Wait what?

Congrats for them, that’s hilarious.

andrewrgross,

Is there a community for gently abused memes that I can post this to?

andrewrgross,

This is crazy. All I can think is how useless Reddit would become if users begin to assume posts on the site are from generative language models. If anyone at reddit IS doing this, that’s like trying to get water out of your boat by drilling a drainage hole in the bottom.

andrewrgross,

I think this is a great take.

I get the appeal. Cross overs are enticing. But Zach Snyder’s justice League demonstrates a huge challenge that most people don’t seem to discuss: the recruitment needs to have a purpose.

Remember when Batman is asking Aquaman to be in his movie team? It’s clear that the only reason is that the team is not a means, it’s the end. He doesn’t need him for any particular reason, he just spends the he could be trying to solve a mystery building a club from scratch with no clear purpose. I think this set up would have the same problem.
