Twitter is transforming into X, as the site’s former bird logo has now been replaced by an official new X logo. Elon Musk, who owns the transformed social media site, began signaling the change early Sunday morning with a series of tweets, starting with one that said, “and soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and,...
Major depression has previously been associated with abnormalities in REM sleep. Excess REM sleep would diminish noradrenaline, resulting in decreased binding to the ɑ-2 receptor in the medial frontal lobes comprised of the ACC and the medial prefrontal cortex. The absence of REM sleep with TSD may give some participants a...
Assuming it works the same way on Kbin as it does on Lemmy, and that you’re talking about your All feed rather than just your subscriptions:
You’ll be seeing posts from the communities and magazines your instance already knows about. Which, at least on Lemmy, means at least one person from your instance has subscribed to them (it may or may not be a different metric on Kbin, not sure).
Given that it’s easier to search for Kbin magazines on Kbin, I expect there are a lot of things people on your instance sub to that people on lemmy.world do not, and vice versa. Hence, different feeds.
There’ll also be differences in the algorithms for what counts as “active” or “hot” or whatever on each software.
I think you're missing the points about scale and marginal utility. If you have more food than 3 generations of your family will ever eat, and continue to take more while others are starving, you can make a moral argument that maybe you shouldn't have so much food. Much less continue to try and get more. It becomes more egregious when you, say, take food from your employees who don't always have enough.
A flood of children at the same time as an exodus of the type of users who actually upload good content to Reddit could definitely set up the conditions for a steady bleed of users away from the site, though. Especially with moderators' ability to actually do their job being impacted by the API changes.
I feel the same way.
As an Apollo user, I didn’t immediately leave since I wanted to see if some agreement would be done.
But the way they treated the devs is insulting, I work on IT and know a bit of how complex and time consuming this is; doing all this work just to be considered a parasite to be cut, and seeing how horrible the AMA was; really showed Reddit’s true colors.
Currently liking this federated initiative, big potential and less company ruining agenda. Very comfy here.
Humans are not monogamous. A monogamous species would not feel sexual attraction and desire for people who are not their mate or a potential mate. The mere fact that we want to fuck everyone is proof, and insisting that humans monogamous despite the available data showing someone has other partners in a huge portion of all long term relationships is a form of psychological denial.
Human “monogamy” is a common social convention, not a biological feature of humanity. DUH.
I think though, that OP here is arguing that monogamy is more a product of society and not biological drive. He uses the example that many humans cheat (and as disgusting as that sounds to YOU, it's ALSO a social construct because there are other cultures which are not monogamous). So it doesn't matter what your personal opinion of the matter is, nobody here is arguing that breaking the social code you've agreed to is morally good.
