I haven’t seen the experience getting worse. I am amazed by the amount of shitposting subs in the all feed but it’s not a lot of effort to scroll past them.
One thing i have noticed is that folks have lost their welcoming demeanor from the initial migration and a lot more argumentative or fringe communities are highly ranked on the all feed. And users who comment something that isn’t 100% behind the prevailing belief on Lemmy will get piled on the same as Reddit. I was hoping that Lemmy would be more open to all sorts of discourse but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
FuckCars or antiwork don’t bother me, but they aren’t the kind of topics that someone who is coming from a middle of the road perspective are going to appreciate. Even more so for the full on communist communities on Lemmy.ml or others.
I think these communities deserve their voice and don’t have a problem with them hitting the all feed, I just wish they were a little less aggressive with labeling other people as trolls and downvoting or insulting them when on other instances and communities
I usually buy bread from Sam’s Club/Cosco and it comes in 2 packs so that’s usually what I do with the extra loaf. I don’t refreeze a loaf or just grab a frozen slice and microwave it or something though. I have standards
Instance is the best name for it as instance implies replication and federation. Server isn’t incorrect but also a server doesn’t necessarily mirror content which is why I think instance is the most correct term for fediverse services. I don’t think change the vernacular for instances is going to make it easier to understand for people who aren’t technical though. I think just referring it to mastodon/lemmy/whatever is fine and then I would tell them to sign up for lemmy at lemmy.world or sh.it.just.works etc like you would tell someone to sign up for email at google or yahoo
Amazon is promoting the counterfeits. They don’t care because the people who don’t return the counterfeit products is high enough for them not to care. You basically can’t buy anything off Amazon these days unless you are ok with getting marked up crap from china
Oatmeal for breakfast every day. It’s easy I can make it in a mug at work using hot water from the coffee machine.
I usually have some hot Cheetos for lunch. I should quit but my diet is otherwise bland and so it’s nice to have something with some sort of spice once a day
If iOS/MacOS becomes a legitimate gaming platform then that problem solves itself. But the challenge is getting users and retaining them and having them make enough purchases to keep the platform viable meanwhile users want to wait for the platform to be proven to make investments in it, thereby the whole process is a vicious circle of fail.
It would probably take a killer app, and short of buying Nintendo I don’t see how Apple ever breaks that barrier
Yeah, we will see how it goes. Apparently one purchase gives you access on all devices running iOS/TVOS/iPadOS/MacOS but even Mac had a bunch of games that used to be available on the Mac App Store that were delisted when MacBooks transitioned to Apple silicon and are no longer available for purchase
Have work issue you a hardware FIDO token (such as a yubikey) or give you separate cell phone just for work. They legally can’t make you upgrade but if your phone can’t get enough security updates to install an Authenticator it is probably time to upgrade to be honest.
More hobbies, less doomerism. I don’t need yet another site telling me that the world is fucked by capitalism but it’s be nice to have another site to tell me how to beat those boomerang guys in Zelda 2
“I’m sorry but you didn’t supply a valid answer which means that you want both. I will send a contract killer to your house immediately. Would you like to leave feedback on how I did?”
