So I know about Mastodon, Lemmy / Kbin, PeerTube, and Element but is there a Fediverse alternative to Music & Podcasts (preferably one that doesn’t connect to Crypto)
Thank you, I will check this out. Yeah I didn’t know if it would work fully like Spotify or some other way as currently, the Fediverse doesn’t have a fully paid way yet.
I believe it would have to be more the artists wanting to publish there music on the platform, as letting people ‘borrow’ your music will quickly get to a cease and desist. So it would be more of a platform for artists to be able to publish there music and podcasts that is open for anyone to create there own instance from the source code such as Mastodon does for the Micro-Bloggers, It would mean artists control there music but also can release it to the public to listen too, the only main problem I can see is money, the main thing I can see across the whole Fediverse is money tbh, like who pays for the servers and stuff, where do they get that money from and how does that effect the Fediverse. Really do hope we get a PeerTube like thing for Music but maybe in the future.
So I came across someone who was community squatting and now have seen they have been banned from Lemmy.world is there anyway I or anyone else can Claim any of the Communities they created as they now no longer have any mods.
Sort of yeah, just if there’s still engagement in comments, how much comments to posts would make sense to be a ‘successful’ account in most peoples eyes or at least trustworthy.
Yeah from what I’ve seen we haven’t worked that out yet, especially as it will change over time and I believe that we are higher on comments than posts as of the moment with most people’s ratio.
Scraping the old content is not a bad idea knowing that the information can be on a place that you might feel is better for the long run makes sense, But makes sense that you wouldn’t want to spend so much time moving every little bit across.
I’m intrested in knowing what people think a good ratio of Post to Comments are on a Profile, like what would be a good standard / possibly amazing looking profile have for Post:Comments
There’s this one and !Minecraft this one seems to be a smaller one and wouldn’t it be good to create communities that run together instead of separate into multiple smaller ones that make no sense and get less traffic?
Thanks, Guess we need to grow our Gaming community more on the platform. Maybe I’ll try and contribute to the current games I’m playing and find the communities for them.
Those are both fair points as people seem to just want to go with what they know as it’s easier. I know I’m having a hard time getting my partner to move across to Lemmy from Reddit knowing she uses Reddit on a daily basis.
Yeah that is a fair point, hopefully as it seems like people on Lemmy & Kbin are more active than Reddit users, we should hopefully see these communities grow a lot more to the point of passing Reddit numbers.
Yeah I seem to get a lot of quick answers on here and they seem to be very good, reddit still has good answers but are normally slower on the active answering compared to Lemmy / Kbin
Yeah really do hope the usefulness and content grows so much more on here as it would be great to see people start using it for answers like reddit is used for.
I really do hope so as I haven’t seen many people from certain subs / communities move across yet. I even got downvoted on Reddit for even mentioning the Fediverse on my Local Sub.
Thank you, I never saw this one when I was searching for communities, I’ll keep an eye on there community to see if people prefer using that one as ATM there’s no posts on the community.
Yeah, I’ll keep on looking to see if there’s any communities for these sorts of games as would love to talk to people about them, even if it is just the larger based games
Has anyone started to create some form of ‘Copy’ Project for Reddit, Not like a clone of the site or something. I’m more thinking of a project that’s goal is to almost duplicate what Reddit currently has on it directly to Lemmy or other Fediverse platforms?
I just sometimes browse it, that and I use it when things like Uber Eats and other services seem to not work as companies seem to get back to so much quicker on there than any ‘help service’. I’ve posted way more on Mastodon than ever on Twitter. So not really much keeping me about tbh just want to be able to see things such as Minecraft info or sometimes put out a thought. Also some of my contacts only speak through Twitter as of the moment.
Is there a Decentralised Spotify / Music Platform Alternative?

Can you claim 'Abandoned' Communities

Post to Comment Ratio
What sort of Post to Comment Ratio would you say is a good range for Lemmy / KBin?...
There's two main Minecraft Communities? (lemmy.world)

Does the Lemmy / Kbin (Fediverse) have more helpful content than Reddit?
Pretty much the question, Does it have better help than Reddit?
