Christ, imagine being so deranged that you'd post negative reviews of books of fellow new authors you perceived as rivals. Goodreads is turning into the YouTube of the literary world (no that's not a compliment).

@joannaholman @timrichards @bookstodon That's pretty much how I use it, though if I happen to write a review of something (for my blog or the Sisters in Crime newsletter) I'll post it there as well.

My specfic winged romance, Grounded, is on sale in the US at the special price of 99c until 11 Dec! Check out your favourite US ebook site to see why reviews called it "a sweet, empowering tale of renewal" and "one of the best paranormal romances I've read".

I think AI in general may have some uses (first drafts/outlines) in non-fiction /reports, but so far has proven pretty inaccurate & to me it lacks spark. At this stage I feel a human mind is needed to fact-check & rewrite to make it engaging.

By its nature, it's derivative too. So far AI can only rehash what it's been fed. The AI stuff I've read to date is very dull. It lacks imagination/innovation/human insight, so I don't see any real future for fiction in it.

NarrelleMHarris,
@NarrelleMHarris@mas.to avatar

@craig_patrick @bookstodon Beautifully put. Its uses seem very limited to me, especially considering how inaccurate it's turned out to be. The ficiton its generated that I've bothered with so far is flat and flavourless. Thanks for asking! Are you compiling responses to this question? I'm assuming I'm not the only writer/editor you've asked!

@craig_patrick @bookstodon Ha! No doubt! I mentor other writers as well, at times, and I've said before there's a big difference between a storyteller and a grammarian. :)

@diazona @bookstodon @markw I’ve only read a few so far and I adore them. I’m trying not to gobble the whole series down at once. So far succeeding but one day I’ll break.

"A compilation so good i had to write to the publisher and tell them what an outstanding piece of work this is." ~ Goodreads reviewer, Mitchell.

This Fresh Hell is in the wild and finding its readers! If you'd like to see what the fuss is about, head to Galaxy Bookshop in Sydney on 30 September for its NSW launch, with several of the authors there to talk about his new anthology of fresh takes on horror tropes!

Not myself offhand, but AJ Vrana wrote a story using Serbian mythology in her story for This Fresh Hell. I don't think she's on Mastodon, but you can contact her through https://thechaoscycle.com/about-me/ to see if she has some links she could share.
