Haha, no not really. IPv6 has the ability to provide public IP address for each device, but that doesn’t mean it will have to. Other than number of possible addresses, nothing is different. Routing, firewalls, NATs, etc. All remains the same.
There’s no “should in theory”. It’s only a possibility due to sheer number of possible combinations. No one was ever going to make every device public. It makes absolutely no sense. Why would your company’s printer be online or isolated networks or VPNs? There’s no point.
“Standards for the exact length of an inch have varied in the past, but since the adoption of the international yard during the 1950s and 1960s the inch has been based on the metric system and defined as exactly 25.4 mm.”
Pretty much only meter is arbitrarily taken. The rest is based on that. One kilogram of water is the same as one liter of water. One cubic meter is the same as 1000l or same weight as tonne. Etc. All the other units derive from that. Pressure is force over meter squared, or any other surface. Etc.
Then by that definition everything is arbitrary and just a poor excuse to avoid changing something archaic. There’s a reason SI system was invented, because people noticed a trend and a need for units to have properties that make them easy to understand, calculate and convert.
I do remember there was some drama, but to be honest I never followed them nor do I follow now. Saw the video some days ago, found hardware presented interesting and shared that. That about sums it up.
I have been on the edge with twitter and reddit for a while and I have finally deleted my accounts that I have had for a very long time there. They are no longer the places I used to know, even more so with twitter. I am ready for my new time here and on mastodon....
I keep Twitter on just because it’s the most effective way of getting tech support from some of the companies in my country. But I am avoiding using it on a principle. Reddit, well… the way it turned out doesn’t rub me the right way. This is good enough for now, hopefully it grows into something more reliable and as equally informative.
This is an attempt of someone shortsighted trying to play the long run. If you think bots are the reason for this, you are wrong. Limits are carefully chosen so that they severely hinder non-paying users. Musk is neither good at solving issues nor is he good at planning things. This is his attempt to force more people to buy Twitter Blue.
If you are running a bot or 7, paying 8$ is nothing.
Most likely attempt to force people to pay if you ask me. Paid users have significantly higher limits according to him and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are not implemented for paying customers. Others have a casually low limit which can be reached easily.
Is moving to IPv6 worth it?
The question above for the most part, been reading up on it. Also want to it for learning purposes.

Damn, this is a sad day for the homelab....
Why would anyone want to be a moderator?
Are moderators just purely altruistic? Or do they have an ulterior motive?
Why is it called a U turn and not an n turn
Basically the title but when we do a “U” turn we actually make a small n not a U.
Done with Twitter and Reddit

How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
I don’t understand how Lemmy.world developers managed to surpass both Lemmy.ml and Beehaw.org instances in user activity.
Musk is undeniably just trying to run twitter into the ground at this point. (lemmy.world)
