There are tons of virtual tabletops that make this easy to do over discord. Check out Owlbear Rodeo, Alchemy or Foundry VTT, in reverse order complexity.
I only read the title and love Mullvad but for torrenting I’d absolutely recommend a seedbox instead. Some ones I can recommend are Whatbox.ca if you’re in North America or Seedhost if you’re in the EU. Feralhosting isn’t bad either specially for the price.
I started with Feralhosting but decided I wanted to try racing and bought a custom tuned server. Then I realized I didn’t want to pay $100 a month and switched to Chmuranet (sp?) and didn’t like how they treated their customers. Then I tried Seedhost which was great but the peering to North America wasn’t ideal. Finally I ended up with Whatbox and I’ve been happy with them ever since.
Would installing an OS on an external ssd and booting into that to run pirated software while blocking access to other drives in your system or physically unplugging them be one way?...
I don’t unfortunately. This is from a conversation I had with a researcher in VM escape.
As far as I’m aware peripherals are not actually passed through exactly but rather emulated on the guest machine. When you pass through a peripheral you’re only passing the input of that device, data is not sent upstream.
Whereas passing through the GPU you’re providing a means of accessing non-emulated devices through the hardware itself bypassing the isolation provided by virtualization entirely.
For me its honestly a ton of my work software (digital forensics), shit is too niche to be replaced by good FOSS options. Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom, etc. Autopsy is great and free and has a linux version but it simply cannot get the same level of data without a pretty nutty level of custom code....

What non-FOSS software are you using that you wish you could replace?
