L26,

There are tons of virtual tabletops that make this easy to do over discord. Check out Owlbear Rodeo, Alchemy or Foundry VTT, in reverse order complexity.

L26,

We have the technology, we can rebuild him.

L26,

Can you link me some sources on the racism/bigotry? Genuinely curious, didn’t realize this was the case.

L26,

Your comment helped me get the joke, I was never going to watch the movie. Thank you.

L26,

“The big exceptions are video game consoles and alarm systems.”

Why specifically exclude game consoles?

L26,

Based Salsa Verde maintainer

L26,

The first one still holds up and is worth playing. IIRC there are some HD texture mods that make it even better.

L26,

Looks like it lol

L26,

I’m OOTL what’s up with VICE?

L26,

Fuck ISPs, fuck monopolists, fuck billionaires. That is all, thank you.

L26,

L26,

I only read the title and love Mullvad but for torrenting I’d absolutely recommend a seedbox instead. Some ones I can recommend are Whatbox.ca if you’re in North America or Seedhost if you’re in the EU. Feralhosting isn’t bad either specially for the price.

I started with Feralhosting but decided I wanted to try racing and bought a custom tuned server. Then I realized I didn’t want to pay $100 a month and switched to Chmuranet (sp?) and didn’t like how they treated their customers. Then I tried Seedhost which was great but the peering to North America wasn’t ideal. Finally I ended up with Whatbox and I’ve been happy with them ever since.

L26,

That’s pretty cool thanks

L26,

Basically RedHat changed their source code policy and have ostracized the open source community.

L26,

Thanks for clarifying!

L26,

Not great but better than it used to be. Don’t do a GPU passthrough.

L26,

GPU passthroughs can expose the host to a potentially compromised VM.

L26,

I don’t unfortunately. This is from a conversation I had with a researcher in VM escape.

As far as I’m aware peripherals are not actually passed through exactly but rather emulated on the guest machine. When you pass through a peripheral you’re only passing the input of that device, data is not sent upstream.

Whereas passing through the GPU you’re providing a means of accessing non-emulated devices through the hardware itself bypassing the isolation provided by virtualization entirely.

L26,

I think it’s a great name and domain

What non-FOSS software are you using that you wish you could replace?

For me its honestly a ton of my work software (digital forensics), shit is too niche to be replaced by good FOSS options. Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom, etc. Autopsy is great and free and has a linux version but it simply cannot get the same level of data without a pretty nutty level of custom code....

L26,

Yeah I would love a Discord alternative that I could actually convince my friends to use.

L26,

I’ll give that a try, thanks!
