  1. Janeway's ever growing angst about her lost lizard babies.
    She suffers post-partem depression, and her starfleet uniforms
    are stained by her copious breastmilk which the tikes are not
    there to suckle.
  2. The ecological disaster that the mutant lizards cause
    on the planet they were left on, and so the Voyager is being
    hunted as criminals by every civilization on the quadrant.

  1. The lizard kids grow up quickly and embark on a quest for their lost mama. A repeated plot devise has them narrowly
    saving the Voyager from being vaporized by the Interplanetary
    Eco-Crimes Tribunal.

  2. One of the lizards goes through a time-warp to try to
    prevent Voyager from getting lost in the first place. He
    finds himself stranded on a desert planet with James T. Kirk, so he pelts Kirk with Styrofoam boulders.

I can't believe this show inadvertently swapped for . I know Jennifer Lien had issues, but it was such a odd turn of fate to drop the innocent, empathic character for cold, aloof, and sexy.

...or maybe it was apt? Audience seemed to REALLY like cold, aloof, and sexy.🤷‍♂️

Well, and Seven was also sometimes HILARIOUS. I can't recall actual LOL scenes with Kess.

Missed opportunity: Making Rain Robinson a regular character.

My understanding is that they show only had money for one of them.

"I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" was already public domain in the 1960s - no royalty payments needed! Not a bad tune in proper musical hands (can even be jazz or swing).

When I first saw (the start of) this episode, I turned it off since the giant Abe Lincoln floating in space seemed just too stupid to me. It felt insulting to the viewers that we were supposed to accept that.

Didn't see it all until years later. Not bad episode, reasonable explanation. But that first view.. one of the few episodes that was just too much for me to swallow.

In the US, slow decline in smoking had already started in the 1970s. Restaurants and airplanes had "non-smoking sections" (which didn't prevent smoke coming over and making your clothes smell like an ashtray, but at least one wasn't right next to someone chain smoking).

Some smokers were very indignant and constantly complained about non-smoking sections as a violation of their "rights" to puff everywhere they wished, no matter how unpleasant or unhealthy it made others.
