That’s because the base of my model is whity‘s parametric box (but from printables. It’s also linked to my model). I modified it‘s dimensions and added the divider + TPU Inserts + Logo on top, so that it fits the Retroid. But I don’t know the model from thingiverse, do you have a link? Is there a exact copy of my Retroid box?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

The old one is printed on my standard Voxelab Aquila. The new one also is printed on the same Voxelab Aquila, but heavily modified in the meantime (DirectDrive, PEI bed, Enclosure, Filament dryer, Octoprint, Electronics placed outside the enclosure for better cooling and so on…)

Nebenkostenabrechnung… aktuell auch sehr beliebt

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I have all of them. Am I more 30 than others people?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

It’s this one:

SUNLU 3D-Drucker-Gehäuse, konstante 3D-Drucktemperatur für ABS 3D-Drucker-Filament, Ender 3/3 PRO 3D-Drucker-Gehäuse, bietet viel Platz, feuerfest, Größe 650 * 550 * 750mm amzn.eu/d/dPwi2Uv

It’s actually made for 3D printers

I also learned about them just recently. I had to move my printer over in my homeoffice and I was a bit concerned about noise and fine dust, so I looked up what I can do and stumbled across these. Not doing that much about noise, but as I switched all of my printers fans to Noctua ones that’s not a big problem. Big advantage is my prints look cleaner and stick better to the build plate, as it is always at constant heat, even if I open my windows. And I at least think the dust stays in there, as there is no more „3D printer smell“ if you get what I mean :D Can absolutely recommend this.

I already tried that, didn’t work. I increased the runout distance and sent some M412 commands to configure everything before a test print. It then seemed to work, but when I cut the Filament to simulate a runout it didn’t work. Sending the sensor back if I can’t get it to run this weekend

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you. Now I have to watch it once again :D

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I missed them, too. So happy i could bring this one back to life :)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I am glad to hear that :D Did you find something so far? Or is there already a plan? Wasn’t timed on purpose, I finished the box this morning and am so hyped right now, that I had to share with somebody

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Yep you are right, I already did very much of what you wrote. Except the huge battery as in the 30GB model there is not that much more space. I tried to install rockbox but somehow couldn’t get it to work. Even though it was installed on the original hard drive… But It works just fine with my old 2013 MacBook Pro and Apple Music.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I think most people from there are also in this community. Plus I don’t want to spam people’s feeds :)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Oh yes it does, and I also love it :D

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

There wasn’t that much space left as I went with the CF to microSD adapter, so I got a 650mah battery. Still gets me through a whole workday of constantly playing music. But with the iflash you might have some more space. What model do you have? 60gb?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Ah okay, yes absolutely. I made this upgrade because my iPod battery already was dead and the hard drive didn’t sound very good. It was sitting in my closet for years now waiting for me to do something with it. As this is my first iPod reincarnation I decided to not invest much money, so I went as cheap as possible. But I couldn’t be any happier with how it came out. Playing with the idea of getting another one from eBay to prepare for my wife, my sister or my daugther. But this one here will stay mine, it always has been and it always will be as I connect a lot of memories with it.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

My pleasure :) I read about it already a few years ago, but the parts where pretty expensive back then. But now they’re really cheap on AliExpress. Definitely recommend this!

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you! Yes I know, but I wanted it to look like it was looking back then when I got it :)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

They really do have some nice stuff. Maybe there are some parts I could use for a second one. Do you know if they deliver to Germany?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

They do, I tried. I wanted to order a HDD Flex cable for another project, but it’s very expensive. I would have to pay nearly 30€ for shipping while the cable costs around 2€ + taxes. That’s one expensive little flex cable. Was also having an eye on those wine red back covers, but even the back cover is 20€+30€ shipping. That’s 50€ just for a back cover… They really have some cool stuff, but with these shipping costs to Germany I guess I will have to stick with AliExpress.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, mine too… She also searches it like 20 times a day. I got her an Apple Watch -> Problem solved

But, to be honest, it took her a while to understand she likes it.

CHEEEEESEEEE!!! FOR EVERYONE!!!

I‘m missing Vin Diesel in this. Might be „family“ type.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Ahhh I see… the good old spaghetti infill exposing

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I never thought about that. Now it bothers me too. Thank you.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Perfect!

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Yes. I use it for all kind of little imperfections on my prints. Together with some metal piece with a small flat surface (e.g. flathead screwdriver). So I can warm it up and smooth it out a bit. Very thin stringing is gone like instantly. As it gets bigger, you have to be careful and patient.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

No, I do torch it directly. I use a screwdriver afterwards to form it the way I want it. And a normal gas lighter always leaves soot residue you should avoid to get on your prints.

That printbed looks huge! What printer is that and how big is that bed?

I recently was dumb enough to tell Alexa to power off the smart plug of my printer. 5 hours into that print… While I was looking at it printing… huge brainfart… After that I looked into the void for 20mins thinking about how dumb I am…

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Ah okay! Nice! Did you have to change something other than the bed to make use of its size (on the hardware)?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I am so looking forward to my daughters to become students. Definitely going to discuss this topic through with every person I have to. I am so not going to use WhatsApp or whatever similar software again. If there’s no other solution, they can call me or write a letter :D

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

This is the way. I had a story in WhatsApp for 3 months every day with a picture that I am going to fully switch to Signal and Threema and won’t be available over WhatsApp anymore. As you said, people who want something from me will have to jump over their shadow and write me over one of those. And it absolutely worked, took some time, but it worked. Some people even have signal installed only to text me. The rest just calls or sends SMS. I am from Europe btw. and it worked even though WhatsApp is so strongly used over here.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t know any of these apps and I don’t know if they are used in Europe too, but if I really have to use some of these apps (and I understand that can absolutely happen), there will be an old/cheap phone laying around with these apps installed, they won’t be on my primary phone.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Oh don’t get me wrong, we have plenty of apps used by schools, I just don’t know them (yet). But in the end I don’t want to have any of them on my - at least - primary phone.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm… The zune never was a big thing in Europe, so I never actually saw one in real life. But as far as I know the memory-chip is soldered on, so I don’t think there is an easy way to upgrade. The battery is said to be replaceable though. I don’t mind what hardware one is using. It has to fit your needs, not everyone’s. For me the iPod was the one thing I always had with me since I got it in 2005(?), so for me there is a heavy nostalgic factor that got me to do this.

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

You mean like those old GameBoys? The bottom side would look pretty cool, but i could imagine the back of the display would look a bit boring. But that sounds like an interesting project. Do such shells even exist?

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm… yes you are probably right. There are DBrand decals that look like the interior, but I know that’s just not the same…

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks! Actually I looked up if that’s possible somehow, but unfortunately it seems not. Or at least not in an easy way

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you :)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you! Actually I didn’t know him, thanks for adding a link!

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Yes you are right. Designing a holder or cover for it to hold it in place wouldn’t be a problem for me once it’s soldered in (especially as there are two little screws holding a plastic surrounding of the 30pin I could repurpose). But I don’t have the tools and skill to solder something that small…

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Yep I saw that when it was disassembled. But as I use this one with my 2013 MacBook Pro, which has USB A Ports I think I’m good for now :)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks! It really isn’t that hard to do. It’s important to just take your time, be patient and don’t use much force. There are really good tutorials out there you can watch before doing this, so you are prepared really good. And if there are questions, I know a good community here on Lemmy where you can ask ;)

Gorroth,
@Gorroth@lemmy.world avatar

I get your problem, yes. I also tried printing a bumper for my work phone in PLA a couple times before I was able to print TPU and it always took like 2 weeks until it broke. Those materials don’t like being put under pressure permanently. I didn’t try PETG, could imagine it to be a little better, even though it won’t absorb any impact if dropped.
