Thank you Apollo
Just went to open the app and it force closes, and so ends my chapter of Reddit. Thank you Christian for the most amazing app experience ever.

Typing this from the RIF browser, after making my account here via the RIF browser....
With all of the language models (ChatGPT, LLaMa, Bard, etc.) popping up, I wanted to rewatch Voyager due to the character development of the doctor and Seven to reawaken my imagination....
as the title says, all of these frontends are dead now, which means that its impossible to view any of the datat that exists on these sites if we dont own an account...
For the past ~2 weeks or so I’ve stayed away from reddit (which used to occupy one to two hours a day of my time). I stopped by today for one final nostalgic use of RIF.
Looks like Apollo is done. RIP Apollo and goodbye Reddit
I wish I knew sooner that while fun, no piece of fancy new gear is gonna make me a better player in any way. What advice would you give to your younger self?
My apologies for the long title....
First post on here had to be this:...
I use LibreWolf mainly because it handles fingerprinting and tracking blocking well and is open source. I also do not want Tor-related stuff because I don’t want to risk going to illegal websites. So do you know any LibreWolf alternatives for mobile and Android that handle fingerprinting and tracking blocking well,...
This might be a stupid question but given (my brief understanding of) how the fediverse works, would a fediverse version of a messaging app work? As a potential WhatsApp or Telegram replacement? Or is there one already?
I’ve calmed down a bit but still would like to know if there are any new ‘cool’ apps to selfhost. I know of the awesome-selfhosted github repo. Any other great sources, and could we incorporate something like that into our selfhosted community here? Maybe a bot that checks if any new ones been added?
Hey everyone,...
Here’s hoping for a Lemmy version
I suspect I echo the thoughts of many users, but to me, RIF really was reddit. It was an app I downloaded from a friend’s recommendation in probably 2013, and is usually the first install whenever ri switch phones, also boasting pride of place right below where my thumb naturally rests on my home screen....
I have a Synology, is there a easy guide to follow in creating my own instance?
I'm new to the Fediverse, but I've been primarily using it to try and wean myself off a decade+ long reddit addiction....
I want to hear from my fellow RIF users.
RIF was the only reddit mobile app I've used in my 12 years on the site, absolutely going to miss it.
How fast did the people in it die?...
RIF was important to me in a way that's hard to describe. I will always consider it the pinnacle of minimalism functional design. and it was not function over form either, RIF looked amazing....
I've read that uploading all your images/gifs/videos to lemmy will cause big server costs down the line....
Mine was OK. Didn’t do much and was pretty depressed for most of it but at least I got a flag. Wasn’t able to do much as my area is quite religious
Thanks for everything RIF. You made Reddit usable, and, well..fun. Going to miss it, and without RIF I will simply not be using reddit anymore on mobile. I refuse to use the official app, I'd rather just fill that time with something else. Good luck in your future endeavours, RIF team.
