It is a rare bravery to face the factors of our lives that have fallen down, fallen short, and fallen apart. It's being present with unflinching resolve. It's grieving without giving up or giving in. That's what gives us a chance. A chance to be new and renewed. A chance to be deeper and different. A chance to begin and, more importantly, to begin again.
'Folk Ku Issue 2' has just been published, with two of my ku. 😃 Thank you so much, Jodie Hawthorne @kingriverpress , for curating another beautiful magazine!

You put yourself together. Bit by bit. Part Sometimes you do it with clarity and precision. As if by a manual. As if provided with a step-by-step guide. At other times, in total darkness. In the midnight hour. Grappling with esoteric secrets. With hieroglyphics. An impenetrable mystery. Like Ikea instructions for building anything...
Hello fellow-writers, help wanted. Last week my partner lost a number of my tabs. They are irretrievable. One of them was of a website by women on ao growing vegs and, if I remember it well, pictures of pumpkins. They also asked for fiction submissions on nature, with possible bonus points for a vegan character. It's not hearthstories.
Can anybody help me, please? Thanks in advance!
@MarjoleinRotsteeg@writingcommunity@writers I can't help with the website but I will say that if you happen to browse using a google account, your entire history is saved in a really well-indexed list that lets you locate search and site history a lot more deeply than a history search provides
I have a deep love for the "Quentin Tarantino carves a turkey sketch" from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (which, incidentally, is never shown on screen).
It's an advanced class in writing comedy, writing violence, and the role of the audience's imagination in storytelling.
Is that on any platforms right now or do you have a physical copy? I watched it round when it came out and I remember absolutely loving the way that Perry and that other guy portrayed their deep abiding friendship. I went in looking for treachery and it was the opposite and it was great.
I tried to find it a while back and failed, it is a felony that 30 Rock persisted with the blackface and whatnot while this fizzled. FELONY.
@ShaulaEvans@writing prevailing opinion seems to be that show was a terrible misfire; my wife and I absolutely loved it and were really disappointed when it got cancelled
On the packaging.Hidden in the terms and conditions. Who knew it’d be so foretelling, so prescient? “Some assembly required.” Like a chant. Like a mantra. Like the Rosary. A testament to how you’d spend your time and your days. A lifetime with tiny pieces. Trying to fit them in. Trying to figure out where they go...
as someone who ran a fiction magazine for a decade i don't agree with the premise of that article. The future is in the slush pile, not in a network of who happens to know the right person.
and i suspect the issue is more that the slush pile usually outweighs the subscribers for most small magazines.
One of those 'WOW!' moments. One of my haiku has just been published in the Autumn 2023 edition of 'The Wales Haiku Journal'. (cf p 53). The whole magazine can be read and downloaded for free via this link: 👇🏽
