Really great line up tonight! It’s hard to decide which one to showcase. But I’ll have to with Meld because Suder is such a great minor character that I wished we saw more of.
TOS (8ET): Assignment Earth
TNG (9ET): Rascals
DS9 (10ET): Treachery, Faith and the Great River
VOY (11ET): Meld
ENT (midnight): Sleeping Dogs
In the final scene of the episode, when the Enterprise senior staff bid farewell to Scotty, there was a quick scene which didn't make sense. Deanna hugged/kissed Scotty even though she hadn't appeared in the episode up until then.
There was a filmed scene with Deanna and Scotty which was cut from the final version.
One more point about the holodeck scene in TNG "Relics"
When Scotty entered the holodeck, the shot of the bridge was from TOS' 'This Side of Paradise", which had a rare shot of an empty Enterprise bridge.
The only parts of the holodeck scene which were actual physical sets were the captain's chair Scotty sat in, the chair Picard sat in, the railing, turbolift door and a workstation in the back of the bridge behind the railing. The rest of that scene created via VFX.
I remember being blown away back in the '90s when I first saw the holodeck scene of the TOS bridge. I grew up watching TOS and that was the first time the bridge was recreated almost to the letter.
In a way, "Relics" paved the way for episodes like DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations" which used VFX to integrate TOS into then current Trek.
When Scotty was getting familiar with his guest quarters, he referenced the TOS episodes "Elaan of Troyius" (the Dohlman) and "Wolf in the Fold" (Argelius II and him being accused of murder)
Tonight’s fun fact: The young reporter whom Samuel Clemons spoke to was played by Alexander Enberg (from Memory Alpha).
Enberg also portrayed Ensign Taurik in TNG’s “Lower Decks” and had a recurring guest role on VOY as Ensign Vorik, who was part of B’Elanna’s Engineering team.
JL: "Don't do this thing you do with men."
Me: FUCK THE SHIT OUT OF YOU, JL. SHE WAS JUST ASKING YOU A QUESTION.
The number of times in my life when a man thought I was "getting friendly" when I was just being nice... SO ANGERING. #AllStarTrek#TNG#ThePerfectMate @allstartrek
You know, for hundreds of years, salespeople are known to be congenial, amicable... it's strange that the Ferengi are portrayed as being so incredibly annoying. #AllStarTrek#TNG#ThePerfectMate @allstartrek
While it's not canon, the Star Trek Department of Temporal Investigations novel "Watching the Clock" continued the story of the Bozeman crew. Some adjusted to the future better than others. This was a secondary story arc in the novel.
In addition, Captain Bateson also appeared in several other Trek novels, including playing one of main characters in "Ship of the Line".
The cold open for this episode is one of my favorite TNG cold opens. It is short, gets your attention very quickly and piques one's interest to find out what led the Enterprise-D to this point.
Happy Birthday to "Star Trek: The Next Generation", which premiered 36 years ago today on September 28, 1987, with "Encounter at Farpoint". Below are some articles from the local newspapers focusing on the start & first season of TNG. :vulcan_hmn_g1:

Kurosawa is either really flattered for the hat tip to the Seven Samurai or he’s rolling in his grave.

TNG (9ET): Hero Worship
DS9 (10E): The Magnificent Ferengi
VOY (11ET): Prime Factors
ENT (midnight): The Aenar, Part 3
