This is a sumptuous piece of linguistic worldbuilding, that explores the relationship between subjectivity and collectivity, through well-imagined characters and exciting plotting. #books#bookstodon#sf#sciencefiction@bookstodon
Sooo excited to see this book nearing its day in the spotlight! Kaisa was a delight to supervise as a PhD student, and we had so many wonderful conversations about things #enactive while she was writing.
Yay, I just finished the third chapter of my #SF novel, in which my washed-up protagonist is found in a dank London pub and called back to duty with the offer of just revenge.
This writing-in-the-morning thing is certainly working for me. 😊
I hope you’re all having success with your own writing goals as well. :blobcatcoffee:
Okay, now I want to know if there are any academic journals devoted to speculative fiction. I know there are the anthologies like BtVS and Philosophy (or the book I have on my TBR, the Religions of Star Trek).
If there isn't, must look up what it takes to start one, because that would certainly fall under the umbrella of something I'm working on.
Yay, I just finished the second chapter of my #SF novel. Was thinking on it all weekend, wasn’t feeling it this morning, but made myself sit at my desk while I drank my coffee, and I just wrote what could be the first sentence. It wasn’t terrible. Took a few sips of coffee, then wrote a potential second. Another sip, soon I had the first paragraph.
An hour later & hey presto, chapter written 😊
Ok, time to log off and start the day. @bookstodon@amwriting#amwriting@mjjmori
This book has quite a lot of flaws,. To name a few: iffy science, an excess of machismo, simplistic characters and unlikely plot developments.
And yet ...
I couldn't put it down.
McGoings is a talented story weaver and knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat, even though you mutter and complain about the characters, the science and the plot while you're there.
A great read if you want to give your brain a rest.
Humanity’s new war is an enigma with an enemy threat beyond all imagination in this near-future novel of mind-blowing adventure where the fate of mankind rests in the choices of one ordinary soldier.

Slight disagreement: Books and series are both fantastic, and yet: There are a bunch of great #SciFi sagas and novels, but hard #SF as TV series on that level?
The series absolutely excels in its art form, the novels only shine very brightly in their, due to the much bigger competition.
What other shows to watch for fans of Star Trek?
Hi all, maybe this community can help recommend some new shows. I’m looking for Star Trek-like ‘world-of-the-week’ stuff....
