I started Tidelands last evening, so far so good. Having some family over in a bit, hoping to meet up with this book & possibly a glass of wine later today. @bookstodon

The bright and flashy Halloween Pennant is a bright dragonfly that floats like a butterfly. This one was resting on a Sunflower petal with wings spread. The Halloween Pennant's wings are entirely orange-yellow in color with dark brown bands, the Halloween inspiration for its common name.

Sandhill Cranes with their newest addition, a Sandhill Crane chick. Parents stand 4.5+ feet tall and this little one, all legs stood about 20 inches tall. The chicks are also known as colts, can you imagine why?

I took a few macro photos of this purple and cream flower. None of the photos were quite right, but they all made me think of alien landscapes. They were very other-worldly.

Then one of them turned into this.

I think it's friendly.

Balloon berries!

Except not really, as I just searched and apparently there ARE balloon berries, and they don't look anything like this. But these look more like balloons than the balloon berries do, and I have nothing else to call them so...

Balloon berries!
