Has anyone experience to share in knitting a sweater sideways (from wrist to wrist) and 3D-shaping the front with darts using short rows (the equivalent of waist darts if you were sewing the sweater from knit fabric)?

TIA! 🧶 😄

Fiber artists of the Fedi! I'm looking for some yarn.

Lace weight
White/undyed
Silk + merino (maybe another fiber, silk is a for sure tho)

NOT looking for budget options. I am looking for a lux yarn to create essentially a heirloom piece.

Something that would hold up to dyeing if I decide to go with a color in the future would be good.

Finished my first pair of mittens, first colourwork project.

Very proud of how they turned out. They are a gift for someone. Cannot wait to start a pair for myself -- although a different pattern because I'm not a Harry Potter fan...

Outside of colourwork knitted mittens, showing trees and a stag and the words "expecto patronum"

"Memories" tells me that on this day four years ago, I published my favourite hat pattern ever. It's still my favourite! Maybe it would be your favourite too?

I ordered 2 yarn tensioning rings because although I normally do stranded knitting with one color in each hand, doing 3 color knitting was hard and I thought the ring guide might help. Even 2 color knitting, it seems like the ring guide could help with making it easier to capture long floats. Plus, knitting bling, how could i resist? But I have never tried to tension 2 yarns in one hand before so this is me just learning and trying to get the hang of it. @knitting

Bauble-ing continues! I opened day 6 today and finished day 3, so I'm rather behind with the migraine and the solo parenting and the cramps this week, but today is my day off and I'm cozied up with a book and knitting and coffee and a blanket, so maybe I'll start and finish the 4th today.

@knitting

Day 2 features a mistletoe motif in a pale teal green/grey (though the bauble "berries" maybe need some help to stand out better). Day 1 has a lightly textured square motif and is light purple.

Managed to finish knitting the second sleeve on the train up to my mum’s, so my nephew’s chunky Christmas jumper is now done! Not the most exciting knit but 8mm needles meant it didn’t take too long and I can’t imagine him wanting anything too fussy. @knitting

@knitting Finished my first ever cowl. I've never worn anything like this so I don't know how useful it will be but it was fun to knit. Now, I want to add the stitch pattern to my favorite fingerless glove pattern so I can be matchy-matchy.

New project.

I have 10 skeins of very rustic single yarn, worsted weight. It's been sitting in my stash for over a year and I couldn't decide what to do with it.

Now it's going to be an oversized cardigan that should be more than warm enough as outdoor wear most of winter as long as it doesn't rain too much. Mistake rib creates lots of volume, a lot like brioche, without using the yardage (and weight) of brioche.

Current progress on my doodle socks trying to use up all the colors in a woolstok yarn bundle. I re-started the second sock due to it being at too tight a tension and have finally made it back to wear I was when i decided to rip back. #knitting #fiberarts @knitting (remove group to reply)

The first (and so far only) pair of socks knit from handspun yarn.

They were really comfy, but the yarn didn't withstand the wear and tear of being worn in shoes so they didn't survive for more than one or two winters.

But I loved them while they lasted.

Maybe I should try again - I was a fairly novice spinner back then, I think I learned a bit about yarn integrity since.

Experiments of entrelac with self-striping DK - the entrelac is working out pretty well. The overlap of same color rectangles on top of each other has been relatively minimal so far so I’m pleased with that. Unfortunately the expansion ratio from cuff to entrelac is too much so it wouldn’t make a good fingerless mitt at this size. I’ll rip out and begin again at some point (when I’m not working on one of my multiple other WIPs) #knitting #FiberArts @knitting @fiberarts

#WIPWednesday @knitting @crochet

(Not a serious question)

What constitutes a project a WIP?

Is it a #WIP if you frogged 10-15 swatches but still haven't found a #knitting or #crocheting stitch pattern you like for a scarf for this particular wool?

Is it a WIP if you've completed about 1.5m of a knitted scarf, love how it turns out but procrastinate finishing because you can't stop thinking to frog it and make it into a cardigan instead (there are enough balls of wool in my stash)? 🙃

I had a catastrophic coffee accident, so about half of a large one ended up on my sweater—which I was wearing for the first time! It’s 100% merino, mostly white with splashes of pastelly-neon 😭

Does anyone have tricks and recs to get the stain (latte with sugar) out without ruining the hand-dye job? #Knitting #Washing #Stains

After a whole day of just barely coping and making do thanks to migraine+ solo parenting, it was weirdly cathartic to rip this back to where I'd made a mistake and Do One Thing Properly Today. (Just pretend I'm not still working on yesterday's bauble...)

Mum casually mentioned that my nephew could do with a new jumper for Christmas. Am hoping that the chunkiness of this Debbie Bliss wool will compensate for the simpleness of the pattern.

I had to make a small correction on the pattern to clarify how to do the short rows on the toe. It just went live everywhere.

Bauble time!

I got a fancy countdown box of yarn from Marianated Yarns to go with my bauble knitting this year. The patterns are from Stacey Lewis.

I love that these are a low-risk mystery and that it happens in November so I can have a countdown box not in December. 🎄 (Especially this week, where I'm solo parenting and appreciate that past me bought a treat.)

I don't know how I got this so tangled, but it's been an hour and a half and I've hardly wrapped any of this skein >.<

The color is enchanting, at least. Deep teal, almost like a mermaid lagoon. Exactly the color I was looking for.

Yarn is Arranmore Light in Kinnego Bay, for my newest sweater project

@knitting does anyone know how to do nice decreases on a box stitch hat without crashing the pattern? (By box stitch I mean k2p2 for two rounds, then p2k2 for another 2 rounds.) Maybe I cannot see the obvious.
