This is the 4th entry in the Inheritance Games series. The books are a mashup of #ActionAdventure and #mystery and are a lot of fun, with snappy dialogue and good puzzles. Recommended on #audiobook too.
Currently listening to Dust Child #audiobook by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai, international bestselling author of The Mountains Sing. This is another #historicalfiction story set in Vietnam/the US about an Amerasian man who’s trying to immigrate to the US with his family in 2016. As the child of an Amerasian mother, this story, though fictional, will help me get better insight into what it might have been like for my mom growing up as an orphan because of being mixed race. @bookstodon#bookstodon@audiobooks
Finally getting around to listening to 'Van Gogh audio book, a 44 hour listen. It was one of my last choices before I cancelled my audible subscription. Now it's mostly library audio books. I couldn't easily have fit 44 hours of listening into a 21-day library borrow.
I’m #reading via #audiobook Devil’s Bride (#book 1/Cynster but 2nd chronologically). I think I first #read this #historical#romance#mystery in 2009 when it was released & have listened to it before, too. When reading on paper or ebook, it’s possible to skip the epically long sex or nearly-sex scenes - pretty sure one of them lasts over 20 pages. This one is neither my favorite nor my least favorite of the Cynsterverse. #books#romancelandia#bookstodon@romancebooks https://amzn.to/45RSI7h
Starting in just a few minutes over on https://www.twitch.tv/chilliteracy Sam will be going live to read you the second half of #TheDamned by #AlgernonBlackwood. It's a haunting unique take on a haunted house, and perfect accompaniment to the darkening autumnal evenings.
Five stars: Death by Iced Coffee by Alex Erickson and Melissa Moran (Narrator) is the eleventh book in the Bookstore Cafe mystery series. Krissy Hancock takes part in Pine Hills's first ever marathon on a scorcher of a day. As the race is reaching the hills one of the race's organizers is found murdered just off the route.

While coming home from book club, Mackenzie "Mac" Almeida stumbles over the body of Jake Lacey. He's been stabbed with her brother's knife. To make matters worse, her brother has gone back to drinking after being suspiciously absent right after the murder.
Who loves a good #audiobook? CHENNEVILLE by Paulette Jiles, read by Grover Gardner, will be released tomorrow. In my top book picks of the year. Gardner is a great narrator. More about the novel on my blog https://jillsreads.com/chenneville/@bookstodon
I'm not a big fan of full cast audiobooks. I don't like dramatizations. However this format suits this trilogy perfectly.
It is hard to write a whole novel that is made up entirely out of records and recordings, let alone a trilogy. Eventually the format is stretched to the breaking point of my credulity. However it is also a fast, personal and exciting way to tell a story. I couldn't put it down.
Going live in just a minute over on Twitch, it's Lucy with further reading from A Tale of Two Cities! Plots are thickening, tension is building, and I can easily guarantee a cosy way to spend a couple of hours this evening!
See you there?
I’ve re-#read The Martian by Andy Weir. Still enjoying it immensely. I have the original #audiobook narrated by Bray, not the current version by Wheaton. This space #thriller remains one of my favorite #books of adulthood, and one of the first we were able to share with the 19yo when she became an avid reader & a space science buff. The movie is fine, but the #book is so much better. #reading#bookstodon@bookstodon https://amzn.to/3r14ux0
