I first #read The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite in Feb 2020 when I had a mystery virus that put me to bed for a week. I can only plead illness for giving it only 4⭐️ in GR. This week, I bought the #audiobook. I’ve now revised to a perfect 5⭐️ - a perfect F/F #historicalromance. In addition to the #romance, it dives into access & equity debates of women’s & 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ rights. @romancebooks@bookstodon#books#reading#romancelandia https://amzn.to/3Sn3z50
I’ve #read the #anthology Adventures in Bodily Autonomy, edited by Raven Belasco. This collection of short stories “exploring reproductive rights in fantasy, science fiction & horror” supports NARAL, which has since been renamed Reproductive Freedom For All. My favorites were Pod Rendezvous by K Ibura and Bullet Point by Elizabeth Bear. #fantasy#sciencefiction#books#reading@bookstodon
Nigeria Jones by Ibi Zoboi is a contemporary young adult book featuring a young girl who is trying to spread her wings after a great trauma. We watch Nigeria grow from the beginning of the book until the end. It was such a rewarding experience watching Nigeria throughout the story. Recommend for all #YALit readers. Was a 5/5 for me.
1973 #Ethernet as one of the defining information technologies in modern communication was developed at #PARC by Chuck Thackers for #Alto#Computer s. What Bob Metcalf, Butler Lampson, and Dave Boggs built for the #ARPAnet is connecting us all today— via the #Internet, & @fediverse.
The public library I used to work at hosted a couple events where children got to read to dogs from the shelter. I forget the organization's name, but I knew about it since college. It was one of most popular scheduled programs even though the children's department did smell of dog for a while.
I #read One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I don’t know what to say about this #book. It’s #romance. It’s F/F & trans-friendly. It’s a weird cross between mystery & ghostly & time travel & a NY subway. I absolutely had to know how it ended because the plot is definitely unexpected. I struggled a little with the style/voice, but a great diversion during a hard week. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️#reading#books@romancebooks @romancelandia https://amzn.to/46RlXXT
The Witch Boy trilogy by Molly Knox Ostertag is a fun graphic novel series about a boy witch in a family where only girls can be witches. It follows the MC as he navigates friendships, family dynamics, mysteries, and witchcraft. The three books are: The Witch Boy, The Hidden Witch, and The Midwinter Witch. Perfect for ages 8-13 or any fan of graphic novels.
I #read Kincaid by Marie James (#book 1/Cerberus MC). This is a rescue from an abusive relationship by a veteran MC President. (“A club. Not a gang.”) Expected issues relating to jealousy & club life. I liked it but probably wouldn’t repeat. #reading#romance#books#romancebooks#romancelandia@romancebooks
