Cursed is a fairly straight forward horror novella debut from Leigh Kenny.

The Year's Best Dark Fantasy and Horror Volume 4 is an exceptional anthology that makes me want to search out and read the previous volumes because apparently, I have been missing out on something special. Angry spirits, swarms of bugs, strange lights that lead people astray, Bigfoot, and more are featured in these 22 new tales of Dread. Most take place in wild and dangerous outdoor settings because like they say, write what you know, and the author certainly has lots of experience with such places. My review of Dread by Kevin Bachar is posted at https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2023/11/dread-22-tales-of-terror-by-kevin-bachar.html @horrorbooks

I am having the best ever book mail week. I love short horror stories so much! On Monday I received The Year's Best Dark Fantasy & Horror from the publisher for review consideration and Last night I received a gifted copy of Nightmare Abbey Volume 4. I feel like Christmas came early for me.

So Son #1 made good on his threat and we #JustWatched #Halloween 2018 🙄

I must say it was also excellent. I enjoyed Laurie's characterization as well as her daughter and granddaughter. And it is always a delight to see one of my favorite #HeyItsThatGuy Will Patton.

I'm not going to say it was better than 1978 because Feral Teenager is hovering over my shoulder now and will be insufferable if I do.

🔪🔪🔪🔪.5 out 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

"It should be 9/10 Mom! 😡"

Now he's trying to convince me to watch #HalloweenKills but I'm going to make him watch #Alien first.

Well, we watched it. It was... a movie.

I'm not sure how you take well-written, previously existing material for a compelling prequel, cast a bunch of really talented people, and still wind up with a milquetoast, totally forgettable movie- but somebody did, so I guess... Good job. It wasn't even BAD- just utterly unremarkable.

Also, the lack of Maine accents (in general, but for JUDD CRANDALL, of all people) was irritating.

Ok , Apex Magazine is doing a subscription drive, the number of subs they get will determine the future of the magazine.

Apex is one of the best we have, and deserve our support.

and to prove that, they also have a great list of other mags that ALSO should be subscribed to.

Short fiction needs our support, so if you can, now is the time.
