Is it too late to be posting spooky stuff?

This took me like a week to stitch, another week for my fingers to heal up, and then I went and forgot to post it 😭

My first ever hand embroidery piece. Not too shabby, I reckon! Good tree 😁

My official last project for the extended . Roll on the next one!

Pattern is https://www.etsy.com/listing/1554526317/pdf-pattern-spooky-cabin-step-by-step

Closeup of the tree and the ghost, both made with raised puff stitches that give the piece a pleasing texture

Things October 31 is besides : Day, celebrating the date in 1517 when Martin nailed his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg--or did he?
Modern scholarship long tended to dismiss the episode as fictional, citing lack of contemporary evidence. 1/n

In 2018, 2 historians from the historical Luther sites set forth the case for the authenticity of the tradition that he nailed the 95 theses to the church door OTD 1517:

Luthers Thesenanschlag laut Historikern mehr als bloss Legende https://ref.ch/news/luthers-thesenanschlag-laut-historikern-mehr-als-bloss-legende/ 7/n

@MetalClassicalRocks @classicalmusic Reaching deep into my bank of old (and possibly incorrect) memories: Bernard Hermann used to have a radio show at KCRW (Santa Monica) called something like "Movie Music". I remember listening to one episode where he described how he constructed the Psycho music.

Trying a Pavlovian experiment with my students today. I will toss a candy bar to anyone who speaks. Let’s see if they catch on and if this will encourage greater class participation.

@beatnikprof @academicchatter Sounds like a bad idea. Most students probably dont want the candy....those that do will just come to expect it. Dont feed the rhinos.

An image showing 6 Venn diagrams with overlapping circles. In first image, both circles and their intersection are filled in with the caption "Trick OR Treat" and depict an image of two jack o'lanterns sitting side by side. The remaining diagrams are Trick AND Treat, Trick XOR Treat, Trick NOR Treat, Trick NAND Treat and finally Trick XNOR Treat and are each filled in according to the logical operator with the same underlying image.
