Oh, forgot to mention--my review of 'The Betrayals' by Bridget Collins (which I've RAVED about on here--you may have seen some toots) is up on Nerds of a Feather!
Heroes do The One Right Thing. With rising fascism, sometimes The One Right Thing doesn't exist; and usually heroes don't either. In this book, we see what happens when weak, flawed people do a small, right thing.

#JustFinished The Splinter in the Sky, by Kemi Ashing-Giwa
It was good. It wasn't enthralling. I liked the story well enough. I liked the characters, though I felt they weren't that deep. It just didn't grab me all that well. And I found the Great Reveal to have been obvious. It wasn't marked YA, but I felt it should have been.
Read IN AN ABSENT DREAM by Seanan McGuire if you love ordinary & remarkable children, goblin markets, birds, besties, delicious pies, wanting & needing, losing yourself in books to avoid the pain of reality, loopholes, pencils, fair trade, being sure, sisters & debts.
The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut (1922–2007). Cover Art for the 1959 Dell first paperback printing, and the frontispiece for the 1990 Masterpieces of Science Fiction series from The Easton Press by Richard M. Powers (1921-1996). Plus an amusing note from Vonnegut about Powers.
The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. You are a pilot who crash lands in a desert, where you meet an alien child who lives on his own asteroid and dispenses cryptic stories about his travels on earth and elsewhere. 3 of 5 library cats 🐈 🐈 🐈.
I need some #help from my bookish friends here, particularly those in the #Chicago area. I'm trying to identify an independent #bookstore that, instead of providing gift receipts, uses a gold sticker over the price of the book. The issue is that the gold sticker doesn't tell the recipient of the book where it's from, and I'd rather not ask if I can avoid it.
The store in in a north suburb, and knowing the person who shops there, probably an affluent one.

I'm looking for some recommendations on podcasts about books, preferably fiction. It can either be deep-dives or quick reviews of new or favourite books.
Either in English (Australian), Dutch or German.
I really have no point of reference 🙂
'The task of countering colorblindness is thus not merely to see race again, but to reenvision how disciplinary tools, convention and knowledge-producing practices that erase the social dynamics that produce race can be critically engaged and selectively repurposed toward emancipatory ends.'
