Rearranging furniture, cleaning, washing windows, mopping, trimming, making clones for buyers, harvesting, pulling out herbs, and finally moving and assorting plants…
I started and finished THREE audiobooks. “Doppelgänger” by Naomi Klein, “Prequel” by Rachel Maddow and “The Color of Compromise” by Jemar Tisby. All recommend.
While I often use the local indie #bookshop, I also am often in remoter places with no bookshop (sob) So I am interested in online book sellers.
Who among the booklovers uses new-to-me Tertulia.com?
Is it even open to folks outside the US? I'd love to hear about anyone's experience/thoughts
Small thoughts on the books I've finished during November:
Shadow Prey (John Sandford, 1990): Fun thriller, better than "Rules" in a lot of ways, somewhat problematic in others. The almost "For the Evulz" mentality of the main villain is somewhat underwhelming. Could it be published today? Maybe, with some tweaks, especially regarding Shadow Love.
Viajeros en la Noche (George R.R. Martin, compiled 2012): I've read two stories from this Spanish compilation of science fiction stories by GRRM.
a. The Stone City: Didn't like it too much. A bit obtuse for me, I think. The ending had a very "House of the Undying" from AGOT feel.
b. The Way of Cross and Dragon: I liked it much more, maybe because it felt closer to me in some way. Reminded me of the Endymion duology by Dan Simmons.

c. "Patrick Henry, Jupiter, and the Little Spaceship": Quite a somber story, and made me feel bad for the protagonist, even if at the same time I think of him as a sort of proto-Elon Musk (who I don't like) and SpaceX (a waste of resources).
"Damaged Saints has to prove that what happened last year did not stop them but made them more determined than ever. Sex, amazing characters, and rock and roll - how can you go wrong? 5 stars.
Listening to an audio book and having some of my favourite icecream. The perfect way to end an average sunday. Book is Icebreaker by Hannah Grace, and icecream is chocolate fudge brownie. #bookstodon@bookstodon@romancelandia
Boundary Road by Ami Rao is going straight on my TBR list - a book set on a London bus, with all the possible drama that will likely involve and the glimpses of life outside the window - looks like it’ll be a Kindle read for me as it’s from a very small publisher called Everything with Words #bookstodon#blind#publishing@bookstodon https://www.everythingwithwords.com/books/boundary-road/
Good Morning Mastodon! Hope you’re all ok? Today I’m currently reading Mad Sisters of Esi by Tasha Mehta for some beautiful weird fiction. What are you reading at the moment?
