Book post!... 'Witchwater' by G. M. Wilson (Robert Hale, 1961).

'The wild black cat streaking over the desolate, frost-bound marshes of Norfolk—is it a stray, or a witch's familiar? A stray, says Inspector Lovick emphatically. But the cat is wearing the same silver collar that Old Mother Daw's cat wore at Witchwater a century ago... '

A child has died and two women have been attacked, and Lovick and John Crawford are on the hunt for a witch.

Book post!... 'The House of Dracula' by R. Chetwynd-Hayes, published by William Kimber in 1987, with a cover illustration by Ionicus.

I'm particularly pleased with this addition to my Ionicus/Kimber collection. It's signed by the author, and it is in absolutely pristine condition. Whoever owned this book before me loved it and took exceptionally good care of it.

My Kimber/Ionicus index is here:

Sometimes, I buy a book based on reviews. Sometimes, I buy one based purely on the cover design (I do so like perty things). Other times... well, the title is enough!

'Gloomy Fanny' by Morley Roberts, published by Eveleigh Nash, 1913.

PS - The title of this book in no way reflects my current condition.

So, I didn't stop looking for info about the writer Rick Ferreira, and I found out a bit more, including the fact that he had another pseudonym. There's an update at the end of the blog post (right at the bottom)

Just added 'Unseen Footsteps' by Mary Williams (1977) to my 'Ionicus ~ Kimber Index' page. First new one I've added for a long time. These books are getting harder to find. Do wonder if I'll ever manage to get all of them.
