I know there are sites out there designed for finding Lemmy communities that aren’t within your instance but it can be a difficult to find some more abstract ideas....
You can find communities from specific instancesA great way to find lesser known communities is to look at the /communities page on an instance. Different instances may have different themes or focuses, and so you can find related communities that way. For example: lemmy.ca/communities- pangora.social: Great way to find instances related to a particular topic. This is also great for picking an instance when first making an account/moving accounts. - awesome-lemmy-instances
These can make it easier to find, subscribe, and manage communities on different instances- Instance Assistant: Browser extension with tools to help you redirect and search for communities - Voyager Migrator: Tool to help you migrate Subreddits - Other apps: lemmyapps.netlify.app
👽 Coming from Reddit?
See here- sub.rehab: You can sort by official replacements & sister communities - redditmigration.com: List from the migration - quippd.com: Another list created by a user during the migration
I'm on a smaller instance or at least feels small as sometimes we don't have posts for over 10 minutes, How would I find other Communities & Users to follow to get content I may enjoy?

Have you checked out !lemmy411? For some reason I don’t see it mentioned or linked to much, but it’s basically that, which I think would feel much more approachable to new people than pointing them to tools like Lemmyverse (as much as I do really appreciate it).
Another good one for sharing communities you’ve stumbled across would be !wowthislemmyexists.
Where do you find alternatives for your subreddits? I found most of them but for these I can’t find any alternatives so I’m still using old.reddit and redreader....

The list of apps is pretty out of date. For example, Boost already came out and !instance_assistant is a pretty popular extension. I use it a lot to make posts, and just used it to open that post on my instance.

I help with !communitypromo, and the idea is that you can subscribe to keep seeing more recommendations. We also have a guide for finding new communities here: lemmy.ca/post/5581032, which I’ve copied below:

Is there a place I can go on lemmy where I can say “is there a community/magazine that has people’s weird ideas they thought of in the shower” and if anyone knows of a place they’ll point you to it?
This is my first day in the Fediverse, and I’m building out my sub list in Lemmy right now. I noticed that searching for Communities only looks within the instance that I’m logged into. Is there any easy way to search across all available Lemmy servers for Communities?
