This Marxist boogie man is always so bizarre to hear. There are literally 0 Marxists in Congress. There has never been a Marxist President or Supreme Court Justice. There has never been a Marxist Governor. Right now, there are only about a dozen Marxists combined in state and local governments in the country.
We gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers in this racket.

Well from reading the article like a big boy I’ve learned that it’s pure freshwater they use which is expected but lame.
As for what they’re going to use it for that remains mostly a mystery. The world total for hydrogen fuel cell cars is 67,000 which is virtually nil and China aims for 50,000 of their own by 2025 which is also virtually nil. For reference they had estimated around 300 million cars 2021 and that number is on a rapid growth. 50,000 is less than 0,02%…
Further a hydrogen pipeline is not something I’d like to live near, I get it must exist for hydrogen tech to work but china + hydrogen pipeline is just a headline waiting to be written.
Personally I think they’re betting on the wrong horse
Good day, I have some really hard time getting my GPU passed through to a VM, my current host is Linux Mint 21.1. @PabloDiscobar Personally I also like a more granular reaction system (like, funny, informative, hugs, rolleyes, mad etc), like many BBS systems or Discord has. But there's something to be said for the simplicity of just thumbs up and thumbs down. I remember when YouTube changed its star rating system to a simple up/down vote because the vast majority of people either gave a video five stars or one star. So a more granular system could end up being largely unused.
I have often wondered about whether it might be an idea to have hard limits on the number of upvotes and downvotes a post (and potentially a user) can get. If, for example, a post could only ever get a maximum of (let's say) 100 upvotes and (let's say) a maximum of 10 downvotes (and the reputation of a user was capped at, say +1000 and -100), that might still be sufficient for a ranking algorithm to surface highly rated posts and bury low-rated posts, but also discourage people from posting low-quality memes to build up their reputation into the millions. (I think the maximum positive score needs to be commensurately higher than the maximum negative score to reward positivity more than negativity.)
With respect to hiding poor quality content, people could set a threshold level at which a post appears for them. Eg, "show me all post with a rating > 0... or 10... or -10". or "Hide by default all posts/comments by a user with a reputation of less than -50". Posts/comments that do not meet that threshold would be collapsed by default.

Same. The amount of times where I've looked outside to see it rain heavily while the weather app is like "yeah 0% chance for the entire day bro, can't be" is through the roof.
I'm a huge fan of Apple's default apps. Weather is definitely not one of them.

So first thing, Twitter is different than the rest. Elmo purchased it and he is doing some things to it that looks crazy.
Reddit CEO admitted that his API changes are inspired by Elmo's Twitter changes, he likely wouldn't double down if that didn't happen to Twitter as well.
Anyway, to show inflation the government increased interest rates. Which made investors thinking, "why should I put my money in this risky business that doesn't even generate money, when I could purchase government bonds and add long as government doesn't default I will get 5%?
This actually put pressure on trash startups that don't generate profits.
Ironically it is more like how much interest have been historically. It's just that after we had recession it was lowered to not turn it into depression. Then it was kept at nearly 0% until now.
Side note: if your bank still offers still nearly 0% interest rate in your savings account, they are making killing on your money and they are counting you won't notice, because people got used to those low interest rates.
President Biden said he won’t expand the Supreme Court because doing so would “politicize” the court in an unhealthy way. But it’s a political institution by its nature — and a disturbingly undemocratic one.
You can both vote for the better candidate in an election, which will be blue almost every time, and be an activist and push for an cause progress above and beyond what the Dems are willing and able to do themselves. But using the fact that they don't do enough or don't effectively stop the insane right wing as a reason to either not vote or vote for a candidate with 0% chance of winning is foolish and the reason we are where we are right now.

Oh yeah, the UX on that could definitely use some improvement, but remember Kbin is very young, the dev just went from 0 to plaid in 2 weeks and has been dealing with server size issues the whole time so there hasn’t been a ton of new development except bug fixes. If you can code, consider proposing a fix via a pull request.

I don’t know of anything academic but the first thing worth reading about is the Discounted Cash Flow model. It’s a valuation model that takes into account the time value of money (in a hypothetical 0% inflationary environment a dollar today is worth just as much as a dollar 10 years from now, and in a hypothetical incredibly inflationary environment a dollar today can buy far far more stuff than a dollar will in 10 years).
That right there has a lot to do with the ebb and flow of growth stocks vs value stocks in regard to inflation. When there’s no inflation a company with poor earnings but very high revenue growth looks very appealing because the revenue growth outpaces the diminished value of future dollars, but in an inflationary environment, that kind of company becomes a huge gamble, because they might never be profitable and their revenue growth is getting whittled down by inflation.
It doesn’t do algorithmic recommendations like GoodReads or Storygraph. Its much more of a feed-based system of finding books via observing what others are reading. It takes some work to curate a following list that fits your tastes, but if you go to your favorite books and actually follow the people who feel similar to you, then over time you will start to get some wild recommendations by seeing the stuff they are picking up or marking as “to read”. I much prefer it to algorithmic recommendations because it adds a human level of complexity - for instance, an algo isnt going to recommend a book that was published 40 years ago that has almost 0 online data about itself, but a person I really respect could say its one of their all-time favorites and now I have a new book that I literally never would have heard about anywhere else except for that one person.
