Today is the 90th consecutive day of ethnic and communal genocide in Manipur. The state has experienced 89 consecutive days & nights of violence & terror. The nature of the violence has changed, but the violence has not stopped. Every moment is lived with fear of the other side attacking. Manipur is a war zone where no one is safe. What sort of democracy is India that such a situation is created & enabled by elected govts?
Since civilians have fled their homes and taken shelter in relief camps, the genocide has become a David v/s Goliath civil war that is being fought with guns, high-powered automated rifles, bombs, mortars which have been smuggled from neighbouring Myanmar or "stolen" aka taken with tacit support of police, from police armouries. Meiteis are backed by Chief Minister Biren Singh's govt, admin, and police/ commandos, while Kukis are supported by civilian support from neigbouring states. The Asssam Rifles has acknowledged the unequal nature of the situation.
Manipur state is effectively split into 2 ethnic zones. each zone exclusive to either Meitei or Kuki ethnicity. The Meitei zone is Imphal valley, the heart and capital of Manipur, while the Kukis have taken shelter in the hills. Each zone is exclusive to the ethnicity & religion, where people of other
ethnicity & religion are neither welcome nor safe. This violent otherization a direct result of Chief Minister Biren Singh's polarizing politics.
India's elected Prime Minister refuses to address Parliament for fear of being questioned, refuses to addressed the nation on Manipur refuses to take steps to end the violence, refuses to appeal for peace. He's too busy giving speeches against the opposition in state election campaigns. So he and his Hindutva agenda can return to power to create & spread violence, while passing laws that imperil people & profit businesses.
The opposition si trying to force the unwilling Prime Minister to discuss Manipur in Parliament and one fallout is the a severe clampdown on news coming out of Manipur to hide/ minimize the increasingly grim genocide-turned-civil war ,that too in a sensitive border state.
Biren Singh continues to be Chief Minister, of Manipur (only he acts like he is Chief Mnister of Meiteis), Amit Shah continues to be India's Home Minister, and Narendra Modi continues to be India's Prime Minister. If not for the Assam Rifles & BSF, the situation would be much worse.
Meitei groups continue to openly call for violence against and genocide of Kukis. The Nagas (a ethnic tribe), Assam Rifles & BSF continue to be the only neutral parties and are the only ones preventing a more devastating escalation. The state govt continues to be a govt of, for, and by Meiteis.
I wish I could say this response is surprising, but it’s really not. When you can’t win by diplomacy, reasoning, and discussion, and when you feel that you have the right to punish other countries for being sovereign, you resort to force and “beat their ass”.
Do you believe France is sovereign, can make their own decisions, and can act in their own best interest, and are fully competent and able to do so? Or do you not believe they have the right to be sovereign and you (whoever “we” is) have the right to force them to align with your interests? If they end up in any agreement with China, it was their own decision and they did so because it benefits them in some way; do you feel you are permitted to punish them for that?
Nah i and my Cookiejar will personally drive the 20 minutes to France and slap someone’s ass for it.
China is a shithole, Dictatorship, with a ongoing genocide and i as a German think its absolutely not ok to even speak with them regarding anything except telling them they can fuck off until they stop genociding people.
Feel the need to further this argument? I don’t care, China is like North Korea to me, fuck them both.
And no, this is about EU matters so France is not sovereign regarding that.
Then come and beat our asses. But rest assured there is no way Macron, this genocidal dictator piece of shit, would ever try to appease tensions with a country that takes care of their population instead of shooting up every protests as he does.
Three things. First, China had explicitly declared that it would not supply arms. Second, it has tried to cast itself as a neutral mediator and peacemaker. Third, it has a broader stated policy of respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Given that NATO is providing arms for Ukraine and NATO can’t make its weapons without China it does seem fair to also provide components to Russia.
Third, it has a broader stated policy of respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty.
It can’t do this without embargoing US weapons manufacturers, but that would be catastrophic so it makes sense that it is providing everyone instead of just the US.
