Air gun pellets are almost always lead. While steel pellets absolutely do exist, they are much less common. Steel tipped lead pellets are a little more common.
The tarnish and the way the pellet is deformed very much points to lead in this case.
Yes, but specifically, this is a pellet, not a BB. Due to their shape, pellets typically have a faster speed and greater penetration. Pellets are also not used for “play fights”. You won’t find an airsoft sport rifle that will because it is incredibly dangerous. This wasn’t just someone with a Daisy. It moves this from “kid being irresponsible with a toy” to more likely “someone malicious actively trying to cause harm”.
Except it’s not a BB. It’s a pellet. BBs are round. Pellets are shaped like this.
This sub is called “what is this thing?”. Not “what could this thing have come from”. We’re identifying the object, not what kind of rifle it could have come from.
It looks like some of the kits have an attic insulation shield included in them. They seem to be included for chimneys being run through a roof/ceiling. Is that possibly it?
it reminds me a bit of a stone tortilliero, but it’s not as deep as they usually are. a tortillero is a round shaped container which helps keep tortillas warm during a meal. it usually has a lid, too.
You can see on the rim the different wear patterns where maybe they were grinding too much at the side. If that’s not a hand mill I’m not a Stone Mason.
I was picturing something more like a mortar and pestle but this makes more sense! It’s just like a mill you’d find in, well, a windmill, but smaller and hand operated.
