Is there a word for the feeling you get when you hear something or read something so insanely wrong that it reveals a level of ignorance you didn't think was possible?
Thanks for the kind words! It was more meant to be a sort of reusable tool. I know lots of DMs already have their own cheatsheets for a bunch of 5e rules, and this was intended to try and fill the gap by providing a few things aren't commonly found on those rule references. That way they can be used together.
I spend a fair amount of time helping out with technical support questions still. Mostly for something to do and the tech support communities on the Fediverse don’t seem too active
"You Can't Go Home Again" is such a concise and powerful way to remind ourselves that no place or event or thing or experience ever remains exactly the way you remember it, especially as you grow into adulthood. It often feels like a conservative mind is one that is in deep denial about this simple yet unyielding truth. If only more people accepted change in their world as a thing that happens naturally, rather than something to fight against. Maybe we could make genuine progress as a society?
I can't say I'm well versed in the specific history of Flash, it sounds fascinating. But even though I look back at Flash fondly, I can't say I miss the near constant stream of malware that disguised itself as Flash.
Never once experienced that, likely because ad-blocking and more recently not being on the primarily targeted OS.
Though vector video could've been something supported by HTML5 spec and even Youtube, including enhanced features like dynamic aspect ratio support (and surely more).
Similarly, WebGL would get more points with me if it had a container format to allow downloading and playing as easily as .SWF files. When WebGL is inevitably replaced, the archival effort likely is not going to look nearly as good as what we've seen with Flash.
So, I guess Squabbles imploded.

When I rotate a layer, and I want to rotate it by 270 degrees, you cap me out at 180 degrees. But I know you are perfectly capable of understanding how to rotate an image by 270 degrees, because you let me rotate by -90 degrees. You know. That's how circles work? You don't think I'm gonna use the crappy little slider to rotate an image by -92.09 degrees do you? Let me just type in an angle, any angle, and convert it to whatever you need after I mouse out of the field.
I have a meme scavenger hunt, a meme bounty if you will. Somewhere out there is this clip from George C. Scott's A Christmas Carol with the "It is Wednesday, my dudes" meme mixed in.
It's kind of funny how many 1:1 clones of popular subreddits were created on kbin after the big Reddit api debacle earlier this year that were posted in by like one or two people for a month or so, then just completely died. Some with hundreds or 1k + users subscribed.
Just seeing all of them in the abandoned magazine section.
But even among the few who are here, there's little posting outside of the big news and meme magazines (though that also goes for Lemmy communities). Not unique to the #fediverse by any means — there will always be way more lurkers than posters — but I really wish more people would contribute to the communities that they're active in. #kbinmeta
@sour The person I'm referencing is just utterly ignorant of the Fediverse. They're the kind that does meaningful criticisms of the systems we living under, but thinks the salvation is not by stepping away from it, but by replacing the bad rich people with good rich people.
Is it just me, or should the "boost" and "favorite" functions on kbin be swapped? I feel like the "up arrow" should be the "boost", and the "boost" link on a post, thread, or comment should be "favorite" instead.
@btp Actually that was my first shot, it seemed more intuitive to me. However, for many, it was confusing due to how it was implemented in Lemmy, and overall, it caused certain problems on a larger scale. That's why it has been changed.
I've just learned that Romhacking.net is planning on removing their HomeBrew section entirely, probably during the next major update to the site. Sad, sad news.
The DataHoarder community has taken notice and multiple people are in the process of backing up the HomeBrew section of the site. Apparently this cannot be automated due to anti-bot measures on the site and has to be done manually, so massive massive thanks to all of them. Compilations of the contents should be uploaded to Archive.org soon.
I was reminded that Itch.io does accepts console homebrew, and in fact a lot of the homebrew projects on Romhacking were already being released on Itch as well. Romhacking removing their HomeBrew section is still unfortunate, but at least there is another place for these devs to go.
Update #2: a dump of the Romhacking HomeBrew section has been uploaded to archive.org. Many thanks to Lamuks on Reddit for manually downloading every single one of these.
I have no idea what your situation is, but sounds like you're in the middle of figuring things out. These things take time and that's ok. Just be sure to take care of yourself.
