Me personally? I’ve become much less tolerant of sexist humor. Back in the day, cracking a joke at women’s expense was pretty common when I was a teen. As I’ve matured and become aware to the horrific extent of toxicity and bigotry pervading all tiers of our individualistic society, I’ve come to see how exclusionarly and...
Because you use light to communicate in sign language, and light is just an electromagnetic wave like radio but on another frequency. You just need to be in line of sight
I keep seeing people comment that Lemmy is mostly men in their 20s and 30s. That’s not my demo and many of the posts/comments i see don’t seem to fit that.
Hello Sci-fi fans and writers, I hope that this here is the correct spot to ask this question regarding a conundrum I have come about during my work on a sci-fi short Story....
I bought a piece of 1.5 inch stiff foam to try to fix a sag in a bed. It didn’t work but having that thick piece of solid foam around has been a life saver....

My parents have always been left-wing hippies and entertained the odd conspiracy theory, but during the pandemic they got lost down YouTube rabbit holes and bought into Q-Anon and anti-vax ideas. They still don’t believe Covid is real (even though they blatantly had it…)....
So, I get that someone is trying to populate this community with posts using the lemmit.online bot. And that the vast majority of us are coming from Reddit. And that AITA is a staple community that we’re used to seeing in our feeds....
Prediction: … As search engines become less and less useful, users who want [better quality content that’s curated out of SEO spam will share it with each other, creating a sort of link repository or aggregator for quality, human-verified content.] [tildes.net/~tech/1734/the_dead_internet_theory#co…](paraphrased from OP)...

And that makes this community unique compared to the scabs advocating for Reddit. The people who will belong here will come here. :)
Today, like the past few days, we have had some downtime. Apparently some script kids are enjoying themselves by targeting our server (and others). Sorry for the inconvenience....
