EN (2/2):
And how do we use the "free of charge, free of data harvesting" WLAN? With proprietary systems from not-so-data-protection-loving US-Americans?
Open source should become STANDARD in the EU - at least in all public institutions! Just MAKE it happen!

Is it true that you need to register to be allowed to use the service and that only special certified companies may install the access points in the towns?
I would applaud to that initiative if the constant pressure from the EU to install mass surveillance (aka "chat control") like China and Russia do wouldn't be on the top of the EU commission's agenda.
This smells like another attempt to further increase the possibilities to spy on all EU citizens.
@EU_Commission good initiative, but just 20yrs too late. These days everyone has flat-rate data plans for their phones. Better would be if e.g. in Germany you could choose a plan on a daily or at least weekly basis and are allowed to downgrade also. Currently its 24 months and upgrade only with new 24 months. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
