President Zelensky suggests Trump's election can strongly affect war.

The result of the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election can "very strongly" influence the course of Russia's war against Ukraine, President Zelensky said during a press conference on Dec. 19.

According to the latest polls, Trump is the Republican frontrunner in the upcoming presidential elections.

In one year, New York City's messaging went from "you do you" to "mask up with an N95."

This didn't happen by chance. Advocates and groups like Covid Advocacy NY organized to take down the MTA signs and attended every NYC council hearing on COVID to push for better messaging. Advocacy works!

@nycHealthy Flu, COVID-19 and RSV are all currently spreading in NYC. Wearing a mask in public indoor spaces and crowded places can help protect you and also protect others if you’re sick. High-quality masks, such as N95s, KN95s and KF94s provide the best protection [picture of snowman wearing an N95 mask with text saying "mask up"]

From the outside, it's easy to say "oh of course NYC has N95 signs, they are so progressive." But the truth is that we are not. New York's COVID response has been & continues to be problematic. But thanks to the tireless work of advocates, we are getting some wins. Don't give up!

Sharing to my friends:

I cannot for the life of me come up with anything useful or interesting to contribute to this hashtag (I’ll keep thinking!). However I’d love to hear anything my friends might want to share - you are all so clever and interesting!

See linked post for more information.

(If you share something, don’t forget to use the hashtag and set visibility to public so others can find and enjoy it too!) 😊

Teach me something insignificant and simple that seem obvious. I might not know it and be glad to learn it.😉

I'll do one.
On Windows, if you are in a text area (text curser blinking), if you press and hold the Windows key :windows: on your keyboard then press the period, an emoji keyboard pops up so you can insert an emoji into what you are typing.

@nixCraft the year of the linux desktop will occur when we stop asking ourselves if this is the year of the linux desktop and just let it happen organically

staff like to say that their agency (be it city or state) is like a big boat that's hard to turn, but it's on course to vastly overshoot our budget of a livable planet, and all viable turns don't change that. requires us to dismantle or drastically alter that boat, not just turn the rudder.

bluGill ,
@bluGill@kbin.social avatar

@enobacon When turning a large boat you have to plan ahead and start the turn early. However transit systems in general are not interested in turning the boat. Most transit officials have goals completely unrelated to transit, so they won't make the decisions to start useful turns. And even if that wasn't the case, most transit systems don't have enough money to make a useful change and it isn't in their control to get more (but this is second because there are small changes most can make in their budget that would improve things if they cared to try them).

"Experts have been selected to create a multidisciplinary volume with a thematic approach to the vast subject, tackling administration, army, economy, law, mobility, religion (local and imperial religions and Christianity), social status, and urbanism. I've been wondering… people on Pixelfed, are you able to see text posts from Mastodon and other microblogging software?

Alice ,
@Alice@beige.party avatar

@ewan I only see the posts with photos, but that may be a setting that can be switched. That being said, I prefer it to be photos only.

Mastodon is where I go for words and PixelFed is where I go for photos.

You know what makes me happy? Looking up something weird like "why does my carrot have a green ring inside" and finding a forum post from like 2010 with a bunch of gardening enthusiasts discussing it. Forums are great. Searchable, readable, text. Still works 13 years later. Wonderful.

These days he's more like Adolf Trump or Donald Hitler.. :blobcatscared:

Trump is literary copying Hitler and Mussolini and when we say something about that their reaction is that we are "obsessed with him"?

No, we warn for a dangerous fascist who's gaining support and is apparently accepted? :amaze:

It is time to wake up..

But the is already awake.

How do we wake up floating voters?

That is the real question.

WTF is point in digital safe spaces, if all it does is remove progressive voices from reaching the malleable middleground who are constantly bombarded with RWing bullshit.

Perhaps it's time the manned up, put on it's big boy pants, & talked more often about how to also be a force for good in society?

Not just a pleasant cul-de-sac bubble to hide out in & only talk to people who agree.
