pli5k3n,

I didn’t like this one as much as Death on the Nile. But I think I like it more than Murder on the Orient Express a smidge.

It was well produced and performed. Tina Fey was great in a slightly more serious role. My main issue with this film is that it doesn’t work super well as a mystery film. The clues are very subtle and vague. The third act and reveal felt very rushed.

I hope the series continues.

GerricGarth,

Saw it Saturday and enjoyed it. I don’t particularly like horror elements/jump scares, but it worked in the overall plot. Also very enjoyable on the big screen for gorgeous location shots of Venice and in the palazzo. Ah, to have a rooftop garden.

And that is what movie theatres are for! I was discussing this very point in another post about how, with the proper home theatre setup, the experience is good enough/just like/better than “going to the movies”. Comforts of home aside, this is how movies are meant to be seen. Sorry for the tangential rant.

Ah, to have a rooftop garden.

Yes, it is nice.

ieightpi,

Probably my favorite of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptations. I’m really impressed with the way he build a psychological horror out of mystery novel.

Plus the cast was awesome. Damn Michelle and Tina was amazing to see on screen together

morganth,

I loved the book “Halloween Party” but this sounds like it changed a LOT. Anyone out there who has read the book is it any good as an adaptation or am I just going to be annoyed the whole time?

June,

Saw it Friday and really, really enjoyed the movie.

HollandJim, (edited )

Saw it last night with the wife. VERY fun, nice, twisty plot with little clues dropping in everywhere.

One thing - someone asked if it’s worth being in the cinema. I’d argue Yes, on a few points:

  • It’s a dark film but there’s lots of little details to take in,
  • Also it’s a film where you need to keep your eyes on it, and a distractions like a minute of messaging could derail you
  • lastly, compared to Haunted Mansion, it’s good to have a logical, adult movie to see in the cinema. Even though I saw both (Haunten Mansion, under duress) I’d head out to see this just hoping it bring more smart mystery horror to the big screen

I liked it! Didn’t really expect jump scares in a Agatha Christie adaptation, but it worked really well. Also, the movie did justice to the mystery, since a keen observer could solve it all, which is a must!

VentraSqwal,

So this one is like a horror mystery? I’m intrigued. Especially since I enjoyed the first two well enough.

It is! If you liked the first two, you should see it

sugarcake,

Do you recommend watching this in the cinema? I’m thinking to just wait and stream it.

ItsDedo,

I watched it at the cinema but I don’t think the visuals necessarily demand for a cinema screen. Streaming should be fine

I think there is nothing demanding a cinema screen. You can wait.
