I'm a huge fan of Peter F. Hamilton myself (original username NorthernLightMountain after all) and figured there ought to be more of us around here!...

Hi! Anyone read any good nonfiction lately that they’d recommend? I’m between holds in my library queue rn and need a fix.

With the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park (film) having just passed, I’ve had Michael Crichton on my mind. I was introduced to him with Prey in middle school (undoubtedly a little early for the material) and I consider his work to be hugely influential in my love for reading today....

I’m still on Goodreads but it’s so slow, the app’s just an even slower webview of the site and the redesign has made me have to click more to do what I want....

There’s a thread about how people find new books, and one of my favorite ways to find things to read was browsing comments from the weekly ‘What are you reading’ threads in r/truelit and r/books. So what is Lemmy reading?...

Myself personally I get most of my reading done on my 45 minute commute to work on the bus/train. I also enjoy reading in the mornings on weekends and occasionally in the evening on weekdays....

I try to make a list of the best things I read at the end of each year. This was what I came up with last january.

I’m using LibraryThing, after fleeing GoodReads a few years back, and I just learned about BookWyrm. I’m interested in what others apps and sites are out there for keeping track of your books and/or to-read list, and/or reviewing and/or discussing them, and what folks think about them.

So I recently finished the audiobook version of Knight’s Bane by Kirk Mason . A fantasy romance featuring a vampire lady and a farmer turned knight....

Some examples would be the hobbit and a wrinkle in time

Obviously, they don’t have to slide into the cozy genre. But what books do you cuddle up with during a thunderstorm, or your variable weather of choice? Personally, Becky Chambers has become one of my favorites. I also read LOTR when I need a “good guys doing the right thing just because it’s the right thing to do”.

I started reading his works late last year, and I’ve had a hard time putting them down. I’ve finished his 5 major works and have read a few of his lesser known stories....
