Nice to haves:...
Too much $ to host videos from the sound of it. Too many instances vanish. Strict upload limits means it’s more suitable as a gif meme host for your element memes that you don’t care about than an actual YouTube alternative....
I occasionally do some 2D animations, mostly just simple silly emotes, and gimp is proving to be a bit limited. So I looked at what 2D animation stuff flathub has to offer and there are several. The ones I found and that looked promising were synfig studio, pencil2D and glaxnimate....
I am using Organic Maps but sometimes I would like to view an area with a satellite view. I could go back to google maps for this but I was wondering if the community knew of an alternative.

I’ve recently decided to try and degoogle my life, or at least lessgoogle it. One app I use regularly is GoogleVoice. It works really well to keep my work and personal phone numbers separated. Also works reasonably well to keep my personal number clean from spam....
I used to use Nitter to view Twitter posts without tracking. However, now that Elon has rate-limited everyone, I was wondering if there was any kind of Nitter-esque project that isn’t affected by this?
I’ve gone between a few but on desktop it’s Librewolf. Just like Firefox but more privacy by default. On Android I’ve tried Fennec, Brave, Iceraven, and Mull. Out of all of them Iceraven has been my favorite simply because of its support for desktop extensions.

Does anyone know of FOSS moderation tools or automod bots that exist for Lemmy? I was intending on starting work on some solutions but if projects already exist I’d rather contribute to those rather than risk creating 15 competing standards
Hi, I have everything on Google these days. I'd quite like to get away from it to some extent at least. I can't see that's going to be easy, particularly on Android. But ChromeOS, Google drive and email seems like a good place to start, any suggestions or good guides?...
Looking to migrate off of spotify. I will miss it for suggesting new songs and keeping up with new releases. What do you use to stay up to date, but off of paid services?
I just started renting a basic VPS through Racknerd with the intent to use it as a reverse proxy to point friends to my game server instances running at home without exposing my public IP. I could not figure out how to get it to work so I gave up after days of trying and am now using playit.gg. I prepaid for a year of the VPS....
Open source translators for Android and CLI are mostly using proxy for Google Translate or barely working LibreTranslate....
Are there any FOSS handwriting input methods? I’m looking for something like Gboard’s; the closest I’ve found is Unistroke.

Hi everyone, I’m excited to announce one more release before I take a short break. I have some other stuff starting up, so I won’t be pushing out new features as fast, but I’ll still be around to manage the project. (more at the end)...

Hey there, I’m looking to convert any of my old phones (iPhone or android) into a wireless camera that I can set up around the house and use from another app on my daily use phone. I could run a server app on my home server or have it cloud based. Any recommendations would be welcome.
