Hi, looking to move away from lemmy.world. not that my experience is not going well, it’s just that in the last 2 months I’ve come to find what I want to see in the instance I’m part of. I simply want to check before making my choice information on defederation. I haven’t pirated anything in the last few years, but...
I’m a Patreon now! Lemmy has become my daily goto (yes, ex reddit) and you guys deserve all the support you can get!...
As title, standard lemmy in browser…
On reddit if I wanted to refer to a subreddit I’d type /r/oneOrangeBraincell/ and that would get turned into a link. What’s the lemmy equivalent?
**EDIT (2023-07-31T22:18:52Z):**I have realized that I was not clear in my original intent for this post – it could be interepereted to mean that I am asking whether or not you could access, for example, Lemmy through the Tor browser. This is not what I meant. What I was more alluding to was if it were possible to create a...
As a new user to all these sites, I’m confused about they interact with each other. For example, on Lemmy, I can view a Mastodon account, but I can’t view that account’s posts. This makes sense, as sorting your home feed by “all” could hypothetically result in your feed getting flooded by popular Mastodon posts....
My other instance has been down for two days and I’m not sure where to go to see updates/discussion etc....
I think it’s the one sub that I miss that would lend itself well to having a bot repost them since you’re not supposed to contact the op anyway. I don’t know how to do bots and I think it would be an easy success if someone wants that.
I’d like to self-host Lemmy or kbin and mastodon. I know I could use different subdomain for each, but I’d much rather keep it short. Something tells me, however, that other instances might not be happy about it....
I’ve recently been made aware of the non-sustainable business of Spotify (and other streaming services) youtu.be/gDfNRWsMRsU ....
Liftoff keeps refusing to show me my feed and it keeps saying that I’m logged out....

Hello,...
I don’t even know how to begin to figure this out. How many communities are there across every instance (or even just among those that are federated at all)?
I’ve tried liftoff, jerboa, connect and thunder. None of them seemed to have any mod tools available. Is it just not possible to access the modqueue or remove posts on mobile?

Is there a community for peertube similar to !mastodon? I feel like peertube could really use some sort of lemmy driven community engagement. Particularly because it integrates so well into lemmy. It reminds me of an old extension that would replace youtube comments with reddit discussions when available.
That is all.
Hey, if there are any folks here involved in friendly forks of fediverse software - Do you use any fancy merge strategies to merge upstream changes into your fork? What's your mileage?...
I’m reading the ActivityPub spec here and it seems pretty fit for client-to-server communications. Yeah, it might be somewhat bulkier than your typical rest api, but it’s more universal, which begs the question: why do mastodon and lemmy both decided to implement custom (and incompatible) APIs for their clients to talk to...
Hi! I’m looking to publish a blog that can be discovered through interactions on the fediverse, and potentially displays replies as comments. I had set up WriteFreely and, though it is missing the replies feature, it seemed pretty well-made. However, when I tried to publish my post, pressing “Move to [blog name]” made it...

I’m wanting to ditch Strava for something selfhostable that also has ActivityPub support. Is there such a thing?
