How to create an instance/sub
I cant find much information about it. Is it possible to create an instance which will be part of a server, like lemmy.ml. Or do I have to run a server to be able to create a sub inside lemmy.ml(or any other). Thanks

I like this significantly better than Mastodon
My experience with the Fediverse has only been through Mastodon, through which I struggled to find a community I really gelled with. Either it was supper overwhelming with meme posts or NSFW, or it was too chill to the point of nothing. Or, it was hyperfocused like FOSS/Linux and became uninteresting after awhile. May try again,...

Wiki on fediverse?
Is there some application like a wiki in the fediverse? A place to gather and edit information together about a specific topic.

Someone should really revamp email
Email is already nicely federated, but I think it’s time for a change. Services like protonmail claim to offer encryption between users, but you can’t host your own instance. It would be awesome if there was a spec somewhere for a federated email service that defines...
Anyone getting updates from lemmit.online?
Lemmit online is a lemmy instance that mirrors content from some subs from reddit. It seems to be federated and not blocked but when you subscribe to any of its community, you don’t get any new posts in your feed. Any clue about why?

Is there an instance that has migrated all Reddit content?
I recently came across a torrent that seems to be an archive of Reddit. It got me thinking if it would be possible to make it locally browsable. However, I also considered the possibility that someone might have already addressed this by creating a public Lemmy instance, enabling the content to be accessible from any federated...

As Reddit’s enshittification reaches new heights their attempts to suppress attention for alternatives, like federated Lemmy, has the opposite effect as this Hacker News discussion shows.
Developer of RedReader (a reddit app with 100k downloads on play store) is considering porting it to Lemmy or Mastodon ( old.reddit.com )
The content of the reddit post:...
Mastodon has gained 106,723 monthly active users since the end of March (when Elon bought 9.2% of Twitter's shares). 93,603 are new accounts. Overall that's a 42% increase in Mastodon's MAU. ( mastodon.social )
I assume this is mastodon.social. Small compared to twitter, but it’s progress.
Does WriteFreely allow readers to comment on posts?
I’m very new to Fediverse. I’ve seen that WriteFreely is a blogging software that has some integration with Mastodon and I decided to try it. However I don’t see any options for readers to comment on posts. Do you know if that feature is enabled already or still not?
