Beehaw is also down, but they elected to do it ( hachyderm.io )

I’ve wanted a badge that shows the instance uptime and couldn’t find any, so I created one. It’s available at uptime.lemmings.world/{your-domain}.svg and gets its data from fediverse.observer....
Just passing on a tip from FediTips I didn’t know about. Using the format...
The last couple of days I experienced something that I never felt since I’ve been using Fediverse services. For the first time since half a year ago, I felt like actually being sucked into the Fediverse. I only realized it a couple of days later that I hadn’t looked into Twitter and that’s the crucial point: didn’t even...
I’ve been running my self-hosted one user Pleroma (like Mastodon) instance. When I discovered Lemmy I started following some communities from it and also posted some comments....
Possibly a dumb question, but is there, or could one of the extra smart people here build, a federated marketplace to allow for direct buying and selling without the middle-man enshittification of ebay, reverb, and the like?
A collection of really amazing open source projects, where people are getting Mastodon clients to work on 70’s mainframes, the Apple II, and all kinds of crazy things.
How do you feel about meta hypothetically pressing the phase 2 button, which updates threads to have a reddit-like mode that federates and uses lemmy content as free seed content?...

I recently came across a torrent that seems to be an archive of Reddit. It got me thinking if it would be possible to make it locally browsable. However, I also considered the possibility that someone might have already addressed this by creating a public Lemmy instance, enabling the content to be accessible from any federated...
Very nice improvement and I hope more fediverse software starts supporting this. tl;dr popular videos are also uploaded by the viewers, thus lowering the server load, similar to Bittorrent, but all in the browser.

I wonder why I haven’t seen any communities so far that link to related communities in the sidebar....
I have a meme account on Instagram, which I’d like to also have on the Fediverse. Can anyone recommend me a Pixelfed instance for this? Or maybe another type of server?
